Just delivered to his 9’6” downrigging rod and I love how the Air Carbon mesh came out on this build. I decided to use the ACM as under wrap and then again in the decorative wrap.

This 8’0” four piece fly rod is only a available Puget Sound Fly Shop

Built by me, this beautiful fly rod is hand crafted on a Blue Halo glass 4 weight blank with REC Coil stripping and running guides, half wells cork handle, REC tip-top, and an Alps reel seat.

While repairing this fishing rod, I noticed something unexpected—the gold trim bands aren’t thread at all... they’re painted!

Now I’m trying to match the painted gold color with the thread colors I have available, and it’s not as easy as it sounds.

Rod builders: which gold would you choose?
