For us, the most compelling Milpillas specimens are the ones with high luster blue azurite on the smooth matte green malachite.

Had a big time seeing Bob’s collection for the first time, it’s always fun killing time with Texas guys who love rocks.

You’ll note both from the individual selections and from the photo with one of their cases that “color and bling” are the order of the day.

All the colors of the rainbow are present and Even the random stibnite here and there is very blingy and showy with extra fine aesthetics.

What do you think, would you enjoy gazing at this case if it were in your own living room??

Im happy to report that the trip went well, was a resounding success with many specimens finding new homes, and some new minerals picked up on consignment too (some of which already sold).

Now for a little time off because Denver will be here before you know it. The better be on your calendar!

Had a wonderful time visiting former HAMS member Forrest and his girlfriend Dallas transplant Brittney up in the Pacific Northwest. Such good folks.

They love American minerals, and Mexican and Canadian too, they have some incredible rough and cut combos, and a stunning view of the mountains. We watched hummingbirds dancing in the rain.

Wrapped it all up with some serious Thai Food! Thanks guys for the fun rock visit!

What fun I had at lunch and playing rocks with Gene and Roz Meieran and their son Andrew!

We only got to look at a small portion of their things but it was a superb treat none the less.

Gene was a senior fellow with Intel and is one of the five smartest people I’ve ever met, a list which also includes Steve Smale and Brent Lockhart, btw.

One things for sure, the mineral world is loaded with extremely bright, naturally curious people.

Steve is a world renowned mathematician, winner of several of Maths highest awards, like Wolf and Fields medals. Certainly one of the smartest humans walking the earth, AND also a world renowned mineral collector who has published 3 coffee table size books on minerals and working on a 4th!
