📍 Sept 26 & 27 — Readers Fest with thebookclubbabeshtx
Last year, we did ONE day of Readers Fest and sold out completely. This year, it’s TWO days, and we’ve been stocking up accordingly 👀 Think 200+ Blind Dates with a Book for the Blind Date Bar, plus a full lineup of thrillers, fantasy, and q***r romance/LGBTQ+ reads. Our whole team will be there, including our girl matty ♉︎!

🪽A special note: this market will also be hosting a raffle in honor of our friend Dez, one of the kindest, most joyful souls who vendored with us at nearly every event we’ve ever hosted. We got the devastating news that Dez left us recently, and it doesn’t feel real. Their light, their energy, their smile, this community won’t be the same without them. We recently lost someone who started as a vendor in our community and became a dear friend of ours. Dez was one of those people who made every market feel warmer just by being there, kind, generous, and full of life in a way that was impossible not to feel when you were around them.

In their honor, we will hold a raffle at our next event with all proceeds going directly to their family. It feels especially fitting that it will be at our Cease & Desist: Monster S**t market because monster romance was absolutely Dez’s thing, and they would have loved every second of it.

If you're a vendor in our community and would like to donate something to the raffle basket, please reach out to us. We want this to be a collective act of love from the community they poured so much of themselves into.

SEND THE CALL OUT…the surprise you’ve been waiting for is HERE 🧡✨💖🪩

But first, let’s take you back to the beginning.
We started as a book club. That’s it. And what we discovered was so much bigger than just books, we found community, friendships, and how powerful the reader world truly is.
That love turned into a traveling pop-up shop — .t.t.books.

Then came the events, and something even bigger happened: we weren’t just meeting readers anymore; we were meeting the AUTHORS pouring their hearts into stories we couldn’t put down. That became Better Than Community.

But the more authors we talked to, the clearer it became: writing the book is the dream. Marketing it? That’s a whole different job nobody signs up for. Suddenly, you’re a business owner and a strategist, pulled away from your art. Exhausting. Disheartening. Because you KNOW your story deserves to be read. But how does one find time to learn algorithms while working on your art?!

So we asked: what if we took that off your plate?
What if we could be the bridge — between authors, publishing, and readers — so more books land on more shelves, and more stories reach the people who need them?

If you thought Cease & Desist was the only spooky market we've cooked up… you thought WRONG. Spooky season is basically Lizz’s Roman Empire, but it turns out Haley’s got a little bite to her too... so obviously we had to throw TWO spooky markets this year. 🌶️🤪🖤

Missing Cease & Desist? No worries, bestie, you’re getting a second shot. Say hello to Boys With Fangs: a spooky, smutty, fantasy book market for anyone who has ever felt a little something for a man with fangs (Micah does not want to talk about it. Micah is VERY excited about this theme.)

If you can't tell by now, Better Than Co. is the umbrella for Better Than Therapy, our pop-up bookstore, and Better Than Community, our community events.
