From golf carts to Vettes.....

This beauty came in for a much needed improvement in audio. The car is in great shape and amazingly still had the OE radio installed. So the customer had already purchased a "retro style" replacement radio made by Custom Autosound. He had also purchased a "rear sound bar" that looked good but...... Didn't really feel that it was goin to perform as good as it looked. And lastly he was wanting to add a small powered subwoofer option.

So after speaking with the customer and going over a few different options with him it was decided to nix the sound bar he had purchased and just go with replacement speakers all around and take advantage of adding a small powered sub solution. In the end install came out super clean and the audio sounds 100x better than it ever could have been stock. The mounting location for the powered sub allows room for the factory tops to still be stored in the rear cargo section behind the seats and offer optimum bass response. The Custom Autosound radio fit great into the factory dash and offered modern features like USB charging, BT and better audio control adjustments/power.

FORE!!!!! Well..... Four new tires/wheels, drive belt, starter belt, fuel filters, starter solenoid, throttle cables/linkages, reverse buzzer, air filter, full carb tear down/cleaning and oil/filter change.......got this Club Car ready to drive you to the Masters.... or at least anywhere in the campground....

Now, carts are not something that I typically work on but they are an option if someone needed one looked at. That's how this one started out. This was a referral and wanted to at least take a look at it to try and figure out what issues the cart had and advise the customer. Biggest issue was it would rarely turn over and if it did, starting was hard and would barely stay running. After a quick test of components found the starter/run relay was bad. Got that replaced along with a non functional reverse buzzer.. (found some nice signs of wildlife living it up behind the dash...made sure got that cleared out for the customer as well)

But that come to find out was kind of the least/easiest of the issues to address. Now that it would consistently crank it didn't run great and more importantly if you could keep it running long enough to drive...you were lucky to achieve about 3mph.... most could probably walk faster than this drove......

So, after a bit more diagnosing found it needed a bit more work and a couple more parts. Got them ordered up, got carb pulled off and gave it a good deep cleaning, gave it an oil/filter change, got all the new parts installed and got this cart running pretty much good as new. Also put on a full set of wheels/tires and gave it a much needed alignment too.

Now, from what I was told the only greens this cart is going to see is from the money to fix it and keep the tank full.....But it will do a great job of getting you to the local watering hole and the new tires should be able to get you out of any sand traps you may encounter along the way......

Several weeks back you may had seen a post for some much needed repairs on a 2003 Sportsman 600. In my focus of showing what was needed and the repairs performed I never actually took a photo of the machine itself. Well..... there were a few other things that the machine could have used but were not vital for how this customer anticipated using it. After having it for a few weeks he found himself using it a bit more than expected and wanted to address those other areas. So this time I made sure to get photos of the machine!!!! lol

The wheeler still had the original tires on it from 2003 and they were not holding air well at all. Plus the were starting to show signs of dry rot and the overall tread depth wasn't great for his needs. So we had initially spoke about getting new wheels and tires for it but I had said let me get the old tires off and see what kind of condition the wheels were in. As we were not 100% sure if they were leaking because the wheels had rusted around the bead area or if it was the tires themselves. (I did to a check when it was in the first time and we did know the air was leaking around the bead, again just unsure if from the tire, the wheel or possibly both)

Once I got the tires off I found the wheels were surprisingly in great shape minus a bunch of old "fix-a-flat" or something... So I went ahead and got them cleaned up and let him know we didn't need to go the whole new wheel and tire route unless he really wanted to get new wheels on it. So he stayed with the factory wheels and everything worked out great. Rocky Mountain ATVMC Tusk Mud Force tires got wrapped around the OG wheels. These are great affordable tires they perform well on many types of terrain and actually ride quite smooth on pavement/hard pack surfaces too!!.

Another area he wanted to address was the speedometer was not working. In order to help keep better track of mileage for service intervals and to monitor speed he decided to have us find where the issue lied. Luckily it was not the main display unit, just simply the speed sensor itself. So we got that replaced and everything worked great in the cluster from there.

Lastly was the independent rear brake system. In this machine the hand brake actually applies braking power to both the front and rear calipers. The foot brake allows control to just the rear caliper itself. And when testing it found that the master cylinder for the rear foot brake was bad. It would grab for a moment and then loose braking power but there was no leaks and was not bleeding over into the other side of the caliper that the front hand brake controlled. So, ended up getting a whole new master cylinder, reservoir and line. Bled that out to get it set and also made sure to flush out the fluid from the hand brake system as well. Machine stops 100x better from either braking option.

That's a wrap on this one! Couple quick fixes to get this machine running (well... technically stopping) better, some fresh new tires and a speed sensor swap and good to go!!

This Ridge came back in for some added protection and some regular maintenance. Customer had purchased the OEM Kawasaki nerf bars and was in need of having them installed. In addition he had purchased his preferred oils and asked if I could do the service using them. Not a problem!!

The Kawasaki bars fit great and certainly add some protection to the lower part of the machine. Keeping up on your maintenance is key to keep these machines running their best.

Here's a sharp new 2026 CF Moto U10 getting a turn signal kit installed with a few other goodies! Customer had purchased his own directional kit but was not fully comfortable trying to install it to integrate with his factory turn signals. Not a problem! We got you covered!!

The layout of these machines is a bit different as it has limited rocker switch locations on the dash. But it does offer more up in the headliner area. Tricky part is there is no great simplified way to get the wiring up there other than run it all along the roof line back and down the rear framing, behind the driver seat, down under the storage areas under the seats, through the center tunnel and then back up behind the dash out through the firewall. Ended up making a custom harness for switches up above and prewired the last free location to make a future job a bit easier.

While it was here he asked if I could wire the switch for his rock lights up as well. He installed them on his own but had the switch separate along the back wall. Tied that in with the other work that was performed. Now all the wiring is super clean and looks factory.

Lastly while it was here he had mentioned that he wanted to get some small pod lights for the front. He was hoping to fit them in a spot on the lower bumper/grill. After checking it out there was really no way without a good amount of modification to be able to recess pod lights to fit where he was hoping. But no worries another solution was found. I had an 8" ultra slim Xprite Offroad & Lighting light bar on hand that fit perfectly right onto a beveled section of the front fascia. These light bars from Xprite Offroad & Lighting are super slim, put out great light and are priced great!!

When it was all set the customer was super happy with how it all turned out!!

Here's to hoping all had a great holiday this past 4th of July weekend!!! And here's a huge thank you to all of my customers keeping me busy!!! Last weekend I had it easy and took the holiday off... This weekend is looking a bit different.....

I'll be getting some jobs posted up soon!! Have had a wide array of work coming through the shop. From golf carts, to Corvettes and powersports. Never a dull moment!! So if you've been thinking about getting some work done or in need of some maintenance, book soon. Currently trending about 2 weeks out.

In my past couple of posts I've happened to talk about maintenance practices and such for these machines. But this one is going to touch on another area. Safety..... As these machines become more and more popular, local towns and counties have started opening up some of the public roadways for these to be used on. Some local clubs and even nearby states also have several parts of their systems where road travel is part of the trail system. What better way to be safe and to let other drivers know your intentions better than a turn signal system??

So that's exactly what we're talking about here. This kit is by far the best I've come across. SSV Works Tango 2 vehicle specific turn signal kit simply uses 1 rocker location providing directionals, hazards and horn. This system integrates into the machines factory tail lights for your rear signal indicators and includes front "button" markers. This install the customer didn't want to use the "button" style and wanted something sequential and a bit brighter. So we found him a solution that would meet his needs.

In addition while it was here we added some lights from Xprite Offroad & Lighting. An 8" reverse light to also help with safety and a 6pc rock light kit.....not so much for safety... but who doesn't like some killer looking accent lights??

While on topic of maintenance we did have this General come in for a full fluid service. Maxima Racing Oils is our go to brand of fluids to keeping your machine properly lubricated. Now I'll admit there's not too much to say about your standard fluid service but this particular one did have a unique scenario that I thought I'd share.

I know I've talked about things like suspension being over looked and also how important proper maintenance is on these machines. But one thing I haven't really ever mentioned or talked about on the maintenance side is cleaning your machines. I know many take great pride in making their rides look good. Many spend hours getting their machines cleaned up and spray glossed... But....many don't and more importantly some of those that due take the time getting their machines looking good often sometimes neglect the most important parts to actually clean. The undercarriage..... We put these machines through all kinds of stuff off-road and all that stuff can get packed up above the skid plates. If that never gets rinsed out it continues to build. In this case that happened and so much got packed under the front diff that it basically kept the drain bolt packed in moisture causing it to rust pretty severely. So bad that it left the hex so soft that it took nearly no pressure to just have it round out. It basically just fell apart the moment the ratchet turned. So a replacement drain plug was going to be needed. Clearly not an end of the world situation but these OEM drain plugs run about $45 a pop..... The plug itself I had to use an extractor kit to get out.

Takeaways here mainly just again proper maintenance which also does include proper cleaning....simple easy thing to overlook as well but it can cause some unexpected situations.
