If I told you it’s been an eventful last few days it would be an understatement. All I can come up with is David Howard needed something to hunt.
Saturday a dog was lost while hunting. She hit the river the collar dropped and was never truly picked up again. We got round about location she could be and made some phone calls. A friend from across the river tracked her on his side as well as the owner on the other side. He could get to the ? Mark it would show two bar battery full comm but 1-2 gps bars occasionally.
No luck going into Sunday we hooked to the boat and went down there. All over where last had comm no luck. River is only about 6 ft currently where she was last dropped. We went down river and found her floating in a bend/tree top. Whether she locked up when she hit the water,got hung up in a tree top or an oversized gecko drowned her we will never know. But yall we couldn’t track this dog with the collar in 3-4 inches of water max! It ain’t the first dog that ole muddy water has claimed and it sure ain’t going to be the last. It’s a kick in the gut for sure but it’s a risk we take turning one loose.

A lot probably couldn’t even tell you what a telemetry collar looks like or how to work it. But if you have them go getters them ones money can’t buy them buy up some telemetry collars! It is cheap insurance. I know of a telemetry business that Garmin told they would put out of buisness yet here is Garmin failing our dogs on a daily. I feel it’s not going to get any better either. At the end of the day they are electronics and they do what they do best & that is fail. The only way to stop loosing dogs as much is to go back to telemetry.
