Hey Y'all!! I'm looking forward to tonight's event, if you want an invite, there is still time. It is going to be about wellness and essential oils. I mentioned that I would be breaking up some of the information in some posts throughout the day. I feel it's important to know that reason for my event tonight and why I feel it's so important to share with each of you. I really do care about the health of everyone and your wellness.
So let’s talk about chemical, toxin free living. I will share a little more about my journey to live a more natural lifestyle with you this evening, but I will say that really being more aware of the products in my household is a more recent part of the journey for me. I took more of the scenic route to get to reading labels on products in my home, where nutritionally, I have been reading labels a much longer time.
I didn’t realize how scary these products were until I became invested in it and started researching for myself. I really started learning more once I began using Young Living products. The game changer for me was the Thieves Cleaner. It ignited a fire under me to dig in and see what we are applying to our bodies, surfaces, and all around the home. I was disgusted with what I started to uncover.
Did you know the average person applies approximately 300 chemicals to their bodies every single day, 80 of those before breakfast! Within 26 seconds after application, they can be found in your bloodstream. Most of those are from these main offenders: soap, makeup, shampoo, lotion, and hair care products. These products are being absorbed through the skin and into your bloodstream! Then there are the biggest pollutants in your home: dryer sheets, fabric softener, laundry detergent, air freshener, plug-ins, and candles. Your body has to work harder to try and detox itself because of all of these chemicals and toxins leaching into your bloodstream and being inhaled into your lungs and body. If your body is working hard trying to rid itself of chemicals you are slathering on it, it cannot give its full attention to healing your body when it comes under attack from an illness. It has a huge effect on your immune system and how it can and will respond.
The number two cause of death in the United States is cancer. Cancer sucks and I am sure that you all know or love someone who has been affected by it. Approximately 1,620 people a day die from cancer. One in three cases in the United States are directly linked to poor diet, physical inactivity, weight, or chemical exposure. The American Cancer Society says only 5% to 10% of all cancer cases are from gene defects. That means that 95% of cancer cases are under our control. It’s what we allow into our homes, put onto and into our bodies. Beyond cancer there are other illnesses that are linked to or believed to be linked to chemical exposures. Take aluminum for instance, found in your deodorant, scientists believe it may be linked to Alzheimers and Parkinson’s disease.
More staggering statistics, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health studied 2,983 ingredients in our products at home, and found 884 toxic ingredients. 314 of them caused biological mutations, 218 caused reproductive issues, and 778 were toxic to the human body. They knew 146 caused cancerous tumors but were allowed in the United States even though they are banned in other countries around the world. Many of these chemicals are allowed in your cleaning products!
Did you know that there are over 100,000 chemicals on the market today? Did you know that the Toxic Substance Control Act of 1976 protected those chemicals in use “deemed safe” before the Act by grandfathering them in? In 2016 there was an amendment to the Act which states that EPA can now require testing and reports, but as an "industrial chemical substance" law, TSCA does not apply to certain to***co products, foods, food additives, drugs, cosmetics, and substances used solely as pesticides. Yes, these toxic chemicals are not just found in your cleaning and cosmetic products but also in your food! If you started researching, you would be appalled by the chemicals and additives allowed into your food in the United States, that are banned in several countries around the world.
Since the 1940’s, prostate cancer is up 200%, thyroid cancer 155%, brain cancer 70%, which the American Cancer Society estimated a 50% increased rise in cancer rates this year! That is staggering and terrifying to read!
While cancer is one of the catastrophic effects of your body being chemically overloaded, most of us will feel it in other ways: fatigue, lethargy, brain fog, trouble sleeping, stress, anxiety, pain, inflammation, headaches, acne, skin issues like eczema, frequent sickness, yeast/candida, and the inability to focus. If you are impacted by any of these issues, it is time to clear out the toxins and chemicals in your home. You are the gatekeeper and can control what goes into your home and onto your and your family’s bodies.
It may seem like an overwhelming task at hand, but start small. Choose one thing to swap out each month. Start cleaning up your laundry products, then your cleaners used on your home, then cosmetics, then household products like soaps and hair products, and of course your food. Remember laundry products and items like plug-ins, candles, and air fresheners are some of the most toxic products. You can also download a super helpful app on your phone called “Think Dirty.” I’m able to look at products found in stores and also get clean product recommendations.
One of the many reasons I love Young Living is not only can I trust the company and their quality and cleanliness of products, but that they provide several different lines of products that you can easily start implementing in your home. I will follow up this post with some information on some of their incredible lines as well as another company that I trust and love using in my home!
