If all my neighbours were witches…
the soup pots would bubble, our bounties would double;
the long talks and long walks would bear down the fruits,
and all the green weeds would send out their shoots,
We’d gather them for medicine, for nourishment and tea,
If my neighbours were witches that’s how it would be.
We’d take to the night with our potions and meads,
helping our friends with all kinds of good deeds,
mending, and weaving, nourishing and brewing
the most potent medicines made out of weeds.
There would be bread made, and jam from berries,
butter churned, the flavour earned, and fields full of faeries.
Linden trees and Honey bees would scent the air with sweet,
Barley, Rice and Corn Mother’s would dance among the wheat,
Rosemary bushes and hedges of Haw
Witches on brooms made of hickory and straw
sharing harvests, blessing meats, singing day and night
If my neighbours were witches we’d be quite a sight.
digging tasty roots, playing our Pan flutes,
serving up treats
and living so free,
dancing and swaying, cooking and washing,
birthing and dying, weeping and crying,
Nothing would be lonely, we’d be there together,
in sunny, and stormy, in all kinds of weather.
If my neighbours were witches that’s how it would be.
Herbs and tinctures, infusions and tea,
poultice and salve, mint’s jubilee!
We’d care for each other, we’d care for the plants,
we’d care for animals, the water and ants.
If my neighbours were witches we’d all be in good hands,
loving each other and friends to no ends."
