Have you ever walked along the shoreline and spotted a gleaming piece of sea glass? Smooth, frosted, and shaped like a precious gem, it is hard to believe that these treasures actually started out as broken, discarded trash.
Left to the mercy of the ocean, a sharp, shattered shard of glass undergoes a grueling process. For decades, it is tossed by violent waves, dragged across rough sand, and beaten against jagged rocks. But during that long season of being broken and battered, something miraculous happens. The ocean’s currents slowly wear away the sharp, dangerous edges. The salt water chemically alters its surface, giving it a soft, beautiful, frosted glow. What was once sharp and useless is transformed into a smooth, stunning masterpiece.
This is a breathtaking picture of how God looks at us.
Life can break us. Trials, heartbreak, and our own mistakes can leave us feeling shattered, sharp, and discarded like trash on the ocean floor. But God never looks at our brokenness and sees garbage. He looks at our brokenness and sees potential. He steps into our stormy seasons and begins a beautiful work of redemption.
The waves of trial we endure are not meant to destroy us, but to smooth our sharp edges. God uses the currents of life to mold us, shape us, and refine us into something far more beautiful than we were before. He takes our broken pieces and turns them into reflections of His perfect love and grace.
No matter how shattered you feel today, remember that you are in the hands of the Ultimate Craftsman. He is washing over you with His grace, smoothing your pain, and turning your story into a beautiful treasure.
You are never too broken for God to use. You are His treasured creation, and He is making something beautiful out of you.
