BUYER BEWARE!

Harper's Weekly ran this warning in the years just before the war, poking fun at the unregulated confectioners of the day, men mixing sweets with plaster of Paris and worse to cut costs. It's dark humor, but it points at something real: food products in that era weren’t the mass produced, standardized products we know today.

So, in the spirit of Hallow’e’en, we've been working on something to the same tune, minus the arsenic. An original recipe of an American (and German) favorite, made the way it would have been sold to soldiers and civilians alike in the years before and during the war. No filler, no shortcuts.
