I am one of the featured artists in this year’s Open Studio Tour here in Issaquah. Photographer Toni Pinto and I will open our spaces in the Issaquah Worklofts on Sept. 26 to visitors interested in learning more about what working artists are doing in the Issaquah Creative Arts District. Mark you calendars!

Hi! I just finished my annual break from Northwest Makes, when I spend the week at Girl Scout Sammamish Day Camp. I have the pleasure of volunteering in the role of Program Aide Manager. That’s GS speak for overseeing the teen counselors. We had 98 this year. The PAs started planning every aspect of camp beginning in March, and last week executed their vision with 200ish campers. They run everything, and I provide the support so they can. There’s a team of women who run all the other parts of our infrastructure, and it’s one of those dream teams … full of trust and support.

The world is a hard place right now and there is a lot of work to do. But I believe in my heart and soul that the answers lie in community connection. My hope for everyone is that they can find a way to contribute to the whole in a way that fills you up, the way this camp fills me up.

I know of 98 reasons I feel hope for the future.

I’ve started calling this the knitters tote. The knitters love it as a project bag with its 8-inch square flat bottom, short straps and snap closure.

This is the first time I’ve made a patchwork version. I’ll make a few more and then post them on the web site.
