I couldn’t let a perfect day like yesterday pass by without getting outside. Our original plan was to wake up early to drive a few hours to explore a park we’d never been to before, but responsibilities kept popping up, leaving only a small window for play. So, we decided to drive 15 minutes…to Kansas!

We used to visit Schermerhorn Park and the Southeast Kansas Nature Center frequently when the kids were younger but hadn’t been there for a while. Visiting it again yesterday reminded me of why it was one of our favorite places in the area. There are hiking trails, a cave, a creek, nature center, and a playground.

And some flowers popping out to welcome us back.
