Some days aren’t about the bite. This weekend, my wife got the courage to join me out on the docks for her very first time on the ice. Everyone told us the bite was slow maybe nonexistent but when the lake calls, you answer.

We loaded up the wagon, rolled out to the boat slip, drilled a few holes, and dropped lines anyway. The fish were down there… just not hungry. Heavy pressure, bloated crappie, and despite trying everything from colors to tiny tungsten micros we never got a bite.

And honestly? It didn’t matter. My Love was with me on the ICE

We were safe, warm in our Striker Ice gear, talking with locals, enjoying the quiet, and watching the sun set over a frozen lake. I’ve been fishing this marina for six years, and this might be one of my favorite days out there.
- No fish.
- No rush.
- Just memories.

And I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.
