A little local small-business support today 🍂

The extreme heat has left a local grower with more mums ready to go than this weather is allowing. Sharing their post in case anyone is looking for mums this weekend and can help put some of that beautiful inventory to good use. Good quality too!

Always happy to see locally grown find a home. 💛

For Monica Hiser, fall porch styling started as a long-distance experiment. During frequent visits to family in West Texas, a place where a fully dressed porch each October is practically expected, she started thinking, I'd love to do that. So she did. She styled her own porch first. Then neighbors....

She called me “The Pumpkin Fairy” and I don’t know if I will ever go by anything else from now on ✨🧚🎃

Thank you from the bottom of my heart Northland City Lifestyle for the feature. 🧡

September is here, even if the weather hasn't gotten the memo on fall yet! But our September issue is packed with fall inspiration for when the sweater weather finally appears.

Read our cover story about Mum & Gourd, aka Kansas City's porch pumpkin fairy. We've also got a story about Carolyn's Pumpkin Patch, the Northland's favorite pumpkin patch! And since it's our style issue, we take a look at a gorgeous apartment tucked above Weston's Cactus Creek on their Main Street — and we all know Weston is the perfect fall destination for fall, with its upcoming Apple Fest.

All this and more in this month's magazine. Read more here:

✨And just like that… pumpkin season 2026 is beginning at Mum & Gourd🍂🎃

The colors, the textures, the weird little gourds, this is the part we’ve been waiting for.

Kansas City, your porches are next. 🧡

🚨PSA

I do it myself almost every year. My eyes settle on those big, beautiful mums sold by that one particular store, and I can't resist. They look absolutely stunning on the porch for about 2 weeks, by the first day of fall they are done.

I'm not saying don't do it, I'm just saying maybe go into it this year with managed expectations, and call me when those mums are spent and you need mums again in a couple weeks 😉
