We are so excited for “The Eagle” coming up August 23rd, 2-5 PM Stottle W**ery with Wéidaaká Yóodóohaa (Bill Pfeifer, Jr) a Native American Artist who belongs to the Tlingit tibe from Southeast Alaska, now based in Washington. His work, which he calls “Formline Evolved,” is a dynamic fusion of traditional Formline principles with a modern, graphic sensibility. His art is born from a deep connection to his culture and homeland, expressing the ancient stories, values, and beliefs of his people through a contemporary lens. Wéidaaká Yóodóohaa (Bill Pfeifer, Jr.) is a Tlingit artist from Southeast Alaska, now based in Washington, whose work he calls Formline Evolved—a contemporary expression of traditional Tlingit design. Taught the foundations of formline by his father and later mentored by renowned Tlingit master carver Nathan Jackson, he blends cultural lineage with modern graphic design training to create a distinctive visual style.

For over 25 years, Formline Evolved Wéidaaká Yóodóohaa (Bill Pfeifer, Jr) of the Tlingit Tribe has used Northwest Coast formline art to tell stories rooted in tradition while continuing to evolve as a contemporary Indigenous artist. His work reminds us that culture isn't something left in the past; it is living, growing, and being shared every day.

The Sitka crew have started paddling to Juneau for Celebration! Good to see the design come alive in the water! Save travels :)

Sitka’s canoe is expected to arrive in Juneau on Tuesday morning along with canoes paddling from communities across the region.
