I know it seems like a w**d..
Sometimes, history has a funny way of growing back. ๐ฟ๐ก
During the summer months, little blades of grass still find their way up through the cracks in our sidewalks. Itโs easy to walk right over them without thinking twice, but I love the reminder of what once was.
Long before there was a sidewalk here, this old Key West home had a yard. And every summer, it feels like that yard is still trying to peek through. ๐
The street in front of our home has changed, too. What we know today as Truman Avenue was once called Union Street. Over the years, the name changed, the road changed, and Truman Avenue eventually became the busy roadway we know today.
But every now and then, especially when the summer grass starts pushing its way through the concrete, you get a tiny glimpse of an older Key West โ when this was simply a home with a yard on Union Street.
I think thatโs one of my favorite things about living and working in an old Key West house. The history isnโt just something you read aboutโฆ sometimes, it literally grows up through the sidewalk. ๐ฟ๐ฉท
