JC'S Custom Lures JC’s Custom Lures was born when two of my favorite things, crafting things by hand and fishing, crossed paths.

After tying flies for over 55 years I thought I’d try something new and from the very first lure I painted I was hooked, no pun intended.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by my booth at the Peach Festival these last these days. You braved lightning, thunder, rain and heat in the upper 90s to support me and my fellow vendors and it is much appreciated. If you also happened to stop by the Little Pretties booth next to me selling crocheted animals, my wife thanks you. Enjoy the rest of your summer, our next show is the Burlington, WV Apple Harvest Festival the first weekend in October. Until then, stay cool and as Jerry Gibbs used to say, “Take a kid fishing.”

WV peach Festival weekend is here! Come on out to the Ft. Ashby fairgrounds this Friday through Sunday, Aug 7 - 9, for an amazing time. There’s something for everyone. Almost ready for the annual WV Peach Festival being held this coming weekend in Ft Ashby, WV. This week I’ll finish 6 yellow perch and 4 bass swim baits. I took some photos today showing the progression from the beginning through the end of the painting process for the yellow perch. Thought I’d post them here so you can see how the magic happens. The next step is a coat of polyurethane, then eyes after drying for at least 12 hours. After that it’s the final UV resin finish, hooks, labels and boxes.

Here’s the next to the last batch I’m doing for the Peach Festival. This batch includes some keychains. I hope some Frankfort high school fans stop by my booth. I still want to get some perch and bass swim baits ready but I have to order the blanks and hope they get here in time. Thanks for looking.
