It was an honor to be called to cater a workshop by on celebrating the craft and art of the women of Sunderbans, Bengal amidst their struggle with climate change.
The food was meant to be a snack after workshop and Milena specifically requested Bengali " jal-khabar", a meal meant as a light snack in between lunch and dinner. It was certainly a trip down memory lane for me to make Bengali Beet root croquettes (beet chops) and Ghugni (dried pea curry).
The exhibit itself is stunning, showcasing batik work by the women of the Sunderbans but beyond traditional motifs and featuring themes of everyday fishes and greens that are a staple of the diet of Bengal. When I walked into the space it felt like I had come home, to my mothers saris drying in the courtyard ❤️
Heartfelt thanks to Milena and Eve for this wonderful exhibition and for the opportunity to be a part of it 🙏🏼🌷

🌹We're excited to introduce our Salon Series — a gathering space for local creatives and curious minds around our community table. Beginning May 4th, as we extend our evening hours, we'll be teaming up with local artists, makers, and thinkers to explore topics together: books, poetry, sewing, mending, painting, ceramics — anything that brings people together beautifully.

📕 First up: Book Salon
Our inaugural Salon is proposed by Nancy Graham ( ) — actor, creative, Lace Mills resident, and beloved regular 🫶🏼
Nancy has chosen Mother Mary Comes to Me by Arundhati Roy () — a fitting choice as Mother's Day approaches. Join us whether you've read the book or not (copies available for purchase soon), or simply if you feel called to reflect on your relationship with your mother — especially if you are missing yours. Pen and paper warmly recommended. 📝

Coming up on 4 years- it feels like yesterday and sometimes it feels like we were always here. The store has changed my life and I think of it as one of my biggest blessings 🙏🏼
