Happy Monday and Tight Lines to everyone planning to hit the rivers this week!

Here’s a few tips to maximize your success when on the water targeting salmon:

1. Stay Mobile and Patient
Don’t spend too long in one unproductive spot. Cover water. Salmon move constantly — sometimes it’s about being there at the right moment.

2. Gear Up Properly
Use a 9-10’ medium-heavy rod with a 4000-5000 series spinning reel or equivalent baitcaster. Spool up with 30-50 lb braid with a 15-25 lb fluorocarbon or mono leader, depending on water clarity.

3. Know the Runs
Timing is key: Chinook typically run in the spring and late summer to early fall, while Coho (silver) often show up from mid to late fall. Use local resources (bait shops, forums, state fish & wildlife websites) to track current run activity.

Tip of the week: Choosing that first color of the morning can be hard, but you just gotta trust what looks good to you at that moment. See which color is popping the most in the light you have, start with that, and be sure to switch up colors until you find what gets the fish turned on! Don’t be afraid to try new colors and sizes too, especially when fishing a new system.

That’s a wrap for the 2024 winter steelhead season! Here’s some of our favorite pics from it🎣

What an awesome season it was! Some days were a grind and others were full of success, but we loved meeting and connecting with so many of you guys out on the river. Thank you to so much to everyone who supported us through this winter steelhead season, placed orders, and helped spread the word about what we’re doing here at Chromers Fishing! We can’t tell you all how stoked it makes us to see you guys catching fish around the country on our gear! 2025 is off to an epic beginning and this is just the start. New products, new videos, new merch all coming throughout this year, so make sure you stay tuned and up to date! Tight lines!
