So the 2nd day in a row I forget my bathing suit and have only shorts with pockets after a 3 block walk to the beach for my daily summer swim with my mask and snorkel ( at times) to stay fit.

I get to 3 feet of water look to the sand and see a “
Hole “ in the sand. Oh year it’s a clam. I forgot about them in the ocean .

Dive down start digging with my hand fight the waves breaking on my throwing me off center , whoa! A massive Clam. So I put it in my pockets. Another 5 feet. Another one wow

Fill both pockets walk to the fresh water shower Get home and google them. My goodness they are the infamous Pismo Clam, tell my son. He said Do t eat it !

In the summer they have toxin from the Warm@water Alge bloom but after Oct 31 Game on!!!

Sucks because I just had a blood test last week and they said I’m borderline Anemic. Which means more Iron and B12. As I mainly eat Tuna every day.

I google last week “ what food has the most Iron”. Guess what they say yes Clams have the most period !!Then Grape Nuts.

So I said I’ll freeze them for bait. Nah. I’ll go back to the beach and put them back in the sea to hopefully be found again in 3 months. Got to get up at 4 am. But I guess I better do it tonight after a warm bath and fresh clothes. Back to the beach. Sand in the Mercedes etc a total hassle but gotta do it it won’t be right to just kill it for nothing.

Come Oct 31 after Texas and London. Shallots, green onions wine garlic olive oil angel hair pasta. Every week Clam Chowder all week as well. I know where they are.

I remember in the 79s hearing about them at the Piere

The trick is you got to go way out in the Water to get them

Your invited!!!!

So I go to take a walk at a flee market in a Sunday , maybe find a small vase or something Nooo it had to be a 5-6 foot painting if Glouster Harbour.

The van is in Texas. The seller said he had it sold last week but the guy didn’t have a car big enough. Well guess what not do I .

2 times ago I attempted to put a painting on the roof. When I got home (30 ) miles away it was in shreds from the wind on the freeway.

Knowing the wind pickups in the afternoon why?? Learned this commercial fishing. Because the hot desert as it heats up sucks in the cold Pacific Air and creates a “ vacuum”.

Well it’s only 9:30 am I Better get on the move before the afternoon wind 20 knots adds to the 40 mph on the freeway and destroys my art.

I have a 27 mile drive on the freeway, good thing I brought a surfboard portable rack.

Cruise in the slow land 35-40’with the Flashers on. Painting starts to wiggle. 5 miles into it. 20 miles to go pull over on the freeway. Put my bran new shoes on the side as the rack was not wide enough to support the wood stretcher square bar that holds the canvas to the frame.

So either get a high dented canvas bulge which would tear the middle of the canvas. Or find something to support the “ outer edge of the 5-6 foot frame.

The new shoes I just picked up and had in the car worked to support the outer edge of the frame, tie the shoe laces@to the rack and place them in too@of each other to be 8 inches tall

Learned a few tricks when things go South out in the ocean on a boat.

The painting is not a master piece but the colours and detail is neat .

For sale if interested

Be careful what you collect fellow antique dealers!

So in the 90s there was an auction place I use to get there flyers.

Had no idea 30 years later I would be conducting there estate sale of there personal items.

Can’t believe the condition of the house. I was better off in the Ghetto Alley in Saigon!!!

Nevertheless let’s find some neat things here maybe??

I had to go thru every box today jet lagged from French Indo China. But no problem I’m still up and it’s 1 am

So this beautiful hotel I stayed at was a Retirement Home also.

Vietnam just started this Retirement place
for family’s like 20 years ago.

Before that for thousands of years when the parents get old they live with the family untuil they die then are buried where they live under Buddhist Religion.

This 20 acre place Resort had about 10 old people then me and my son. That’s all we had the entire place to ourself.

After the rain stopped I heard this loud Erie music from
70 yards away, only I knew instantly what it was! ( it’s in the 2-3 video here ) listen carefully to the background.

When an Old family member dies they play this Spirit sounds.

Yes Vietnamese families still play traditional, sometimes
haunting, mourning music to commemorate the dead.

During multi-day funeral ceremonies, hired bands play traditional instruments like the đàn nhị (a two-stringed fiddle) to help guide the deceased’s soul to the afterlife.

However I immediately thought of the CIA project called “Wondering Soul” during the Vietnam War.

“Operation Wandering Soul” was a U.S. CIA psychological warfare tactic in the Vietnam War. It used eerie audio played over loudspeakers in the jungle to scare enemy soldiers.

The goal was to exploit the Vietnamese belief that unburied or lost spirits are doomed to wander in pain forever.

The “Ghost Tapes”: The U.S. Army and Navy created tapes with crying babies, ghostly weeping, and distorted funeral music. The most famous recording is called Ghost Tape Number 10. Google it

Cultural Belief: In Vietnamese culture, it is very important for a person to be buried near their family so their soul can rest. The tapes were meant to simulate the cries of fallen soldiers who had been left behind on the battlefield.

Professional mourners or musicians sing songs on behalf of the family, expressing deep grief and cherished memories of the dead. If a person died young, the music is much more sorrowful than if they lived a long life.

Modern Changes: In big cities, this musical tradition is getting shorter or fading away due to modernization and noise complaints from neighbors. However, it is still very common in rural villages.

Well feeling not bad for a 17 hr flight from Saigon. 8,260 miles.
