My name is Wilene. I am a reseller. In case you’re wondering how I got my unusual name, I am named after my dad. His name is Wiley. I decided to use a name that my dad called me as a young child. You see, he died, due to cancer, in March 2015. When I was young, dad called me Lotus Blossom. So in memory of him, I called my new business "Painted Lotus Blossom." Since the Lotus Blossom emerges from m

urky waters, I felt that it was apropos to my business of restyling furniture. I got my drive for owning my own business from my dad. We used to say he was a jack of all trades. My mom died after suffering from Alzheimer's. Throughout her lifetime, she refinished several pieces of furniture. She was quite the crafter and upcycled many creations using items around the house. I inherited the creativity gene from her. A lotus flower begins growing at the muddy bottom of a murky pond and slowly emerges toward the surface, bursting out of the water into a beautiful blossom. During the night, the lotus closes its petals and sinks under the water. It then emerges again with the sunlight of a new day. As the lotus flower emerges from the mud, its petals are completely unstained. To me, the lotus in the mud symbolizes the hardships and difficulties of life or a challenging time we have faced or are facing. It is the same as the stem growing toward the surface. We also grow through our experiences and difficulties. We learn lessons along the way, remove obstacles, and overcome our adversities. Just like the Lotus Blossom, as the petals unfold, we too unfold and become like a lotus rising from the murky waters and flowering into something beautiful. Its open blossom stands for enlightenment and new beginnings. "The lotus seeds, containing perfectly formed leaves. Symbolize our potential. Its flexible stem symbolizes our resilience. As the lotus begins to emerge, this symbolizes never giving up, never quitting when things seem difficult. The blossom of the lotus flower symbolizes enlightenment, our awareness, and our beauty. During the night, the flower closes and sinks, like a cleansing, and then emerges with the light, a renewal."
