Bert and Carmen Maxwell and Bert's son Ben Maxwell fished with me yesterday morning at Pyramid Lake, CA.
The fishing was slow but steady. We managed a nice stringer.
Bert had the big fish with an 8lb channel cat. I believe that Carmen got the most fish.
Bert and Carmen are friends from church. What a blessing to spend time with them.
We picked up a few fish up right away after we set up for bait, then had to wait a while for them to start biting again. That's been a pattern lately.
When that bite slowed to nothing, we tried trolling for just a little while. Carmen and Ben got the big striper of the day on the troll. We had the lead core way out there. It took a while to reel the 5 pounder in so Ben gave Carmine an assist there at the end.
After that we tried another spot with bait. The striper were there but they had lockjaw.
We had a good day. We were in the parking lot by 10:30.

Give me a call to book a trip to get on some of these nice striper.

Samand Harout Payaslyan, cousins, I think, fished with me on Friday.
I'm sorry about the delay in posting, I've been nursing a bad back, it's making me sleepy.
The fishing was good but we're spoiled! 😂
They caught a dozen nice striper and a decent smallmouth. Harout was hit stick today. It didn't matter quick way the boat turned, Harout got hit. He would have limited out but he had a few hooks pull and some broken lines.
The striper bit for just a few minutes when we first set up then they took a break. They didn't bite again until we starting talking about leaving. When they showed up again, they bit well for a while. After that, they were off again.
We went and fished another spot and managed a few more.
We didn't stay too long, I had something to do later and we knew that it was gonna get hot soon.

The fishing has been really good. If you want to get out and have a go at these nice striper, give me a call to book a trip.

Kandara "K" Por fished Pyramid Lake, CA with me today.
We met in line before the lake opened, everything was ready.
When we got out there, I found out that there was no trolling motor power. It's always something!
K saw a boil up in a cove and we rolled in there. K got three fish in that boil, 3 small ones and a 4½ pounder.
I got one but when I went to take it off of the hook the line broke it fell inside the boat, got it's tail on a rod under the gunnel flipped itself up and against the pole that I caught it on and bounced right out of the boat and there it went with my lure. It was small, I would have let it go anyway! 😆
When the boils stopped in the cove we set up and trolled out of the cove. Out in the lake, K hooked up and caught another small one. I think that's the one that he let go. I meant it was really small.
At that point, I finally realized why the trolling motor didn't have any power. I had been pulling stuff out from under the dash and tripped the circuit breaker with the test button. Oh well, easy fix!
My go-to spot was occupied so I just rolled by and graphed it out of curiosity. Dave Horst was there with his guests. They had caught a few channel cats up to 10lb. Nice seeing you out there Dave! I hope the striper showed up.
K and I out the trolling rigs away and went down the lake graphing possible bait spots. When I found a spot that I thought would produce we put the baits out and waited but not for long. K hooked a nice one in about a minute.
Then we waited. Again, not for long. K's other pole went off as soon as we got the first rod set up again, then as we landed it, the other pole went off again.
After that, it slowed down then K needed to go because he had business to conduct.
We headed in.
What a nice trip! In and out with plenty of action, even with small things going wrong.

Willie Tang and his kids Darren and Elise fished with me today at Pyramid Lake, CA.
The bite was easy different from Wednesday and Thursday, today the fish were grabbing the bait and pulling the tips down for an instant. We had to be quick on the draw
They got a 7½lb catfish and 6½lb striper.
We had a great time joking around with enough fishing action to keep the kids interested

Fishing was good!
I tried yesterday's bait and it was working ok but when I switched to the even better bait things happened a little faster.
Brian got a nice catfish after we caught a few average striper then Jeff got a 7.3lb striper.
We all caught limits but we tossed a few small ones.
We had a few welcome luls in the action. Jeff just left his bait out of the water so that he could eat a sandwich. I threw a Pringle down on the seat, when I got a hit to reel up a fish. Hours later I found the Pringle and ate it.
We had a good time out there today. I'm surprised that the fishing is this good, this close to the Full Moon.

David Zulalyan and Jack fished with me today at Pyramid Lake, CA.
The fishing was great. We caught 31 striper and 2 catfish in 4½ hours. Two small striper wouldn't stay down even with the decending device, we kept them. One little ones we just let go and it swam off.
One of the catfish weighed 10½lb. If I remember right the big striper was 6½lb.
David and Jack are good company. We had a good time.
Having good bait speeds things up considerably.
Good times. Thanks for fishing with me guys!

My bookings are filling up for next month, if you want to give these nice striper a try give me a call sooner rather than later.

Phil Lee, Willie and G fished Pyramid Lake, CA with me today.
Fishing was good. We started out fishing bait that I used yesterday. The fish were interested but not really liking the baits. Then we farmed the first couple fish. Our fault not theirs. We caught a few also.
Then I opened a bag of better bait. Things picked up pretty fast after that! Everyone caught plenty.
They got 24 fish, fishing bait, before we ran out of the good stuff. Two little ones were released.
When the good bait was gone we tried for a little longer with the other stuff but soon we pulled up and went trolling.
We only got one trolling, from about 75 foot deep.
It was a good day! Nice meeting you all gentlemen! Good times.

Manny Mendez and his grandson Aiden fished Pyramid Lake, CA with me today.
We started fishing the the go-to spot with bait. For us, the bite was slow but we got some nice ones and tossed a couple little ones.
Sam and Kim have us few nice sardines. That got us a couple more striper from that spot.
I think we caught 8 on bait. Aiden was the hot stick. He's very lucky!
When the bite slowed even more we tried another spot but there were no takers there.
We pulled up the baits and went in the troll. The first pass though deep water didn't look very promising but when we went back through, the fish had arrived from somewhere. They must have come up from the deep.
We went around a couple times without any response, then I told Aiden that I thought there was a little fish hanging on one of the trolling rigs. He started reeling it in and it got slammed by a nice one. The drag was peeling and the fish fought all the way in. We weighed it and it was 7.2 pounds and 29" long.
We got 4 more by going around in circles. 😆
Manny has one just a little smaller that put up a nice tight also.
It was a good day!

I had a reservation ghost me last night. With no response to my text last I night, I thought that I might wind up solo fishing but I showed up anyway and looked for them in the morning. No show!
No sooner than I got out on the water, before I even got a line out I got a text from Allen Hughes saying that his work has cancelled his work day. I called and told him "Come to Pyramid Lake, CA and fish with me." He agreed.
I set up near the marina and fished while I waited for Allen. I had striper moving through but they weren't eating. I cauggt one smallmouth, then Allen texted me and I headed in to pick him up.
We went out to my current go-to spot only to find that it was already occupied.
We moved on and found another spot down a ways. It didn't take long before Allen was hooked up, then me too. We wound up with a big knot with both poles involved and both poles hooked up. After we got the poles untangled he handlined his fish in and I got got mine as well.
We had a steady bite. We caught 20, Allen released a couple small ones.
We kept 18 nice ones.
Then we went to lunch at Los Pinos restaurant in Lebec.
It was a good day!
