About Gramps
Hey there — I’m Robert Robaldo, but you can just call me Gramps. I’m the founder, designer, and sawdust-sweeper-in-chief here at Gramp’s Lazer Shack. I launched this business in 2025, but the roots go way deeper than that. For over 30 years, I’ve worked full-time as a senior software developer in the health insurance industry, building complex systems and writing C++ code that keeps e

verything running behind the scenes. I’ve always been a builder at heart — whether it’s logic or lumber. Before the keyboard took over, I spent years working as a cabinet maker and a building maintenance tech. I’ve repaired HVAC systems, rewired panels, built custom furniture, fixed busted appliances, and gotten elbow-deep in more car engines than I can count. I’ve always believed if something’s broke, you fix it — and if you can’t find what you want, you build it. That mindset never left me. The laser bug bit me when I stumbled across a video of someone engraving a custom tumbler with a precision I hadn’t seen before. It wasn’t long before I bought my first machine "just to try it out." Next thing you know, I’m up at midnight engraving coasters with my granddaughter’s name on them, making custom furnishings and things for my son's martial arts business, and building jigs in the woodshop so everything lines up just right. Fast forward a bit — we added a conveyor-fed P2S, an F1 Ultra, and even a UV printer to round out the dream shop. Today, Gramp’s Lazer Shack is where old-school craftsmanship meets new-school tech. We engrave on just about anything — slate, wood, stainless, leather, acrylic — and every order gets the kind of care you’d expect from a guy who still sharpens his own chisels. Whether you're shopping for a gift that actually means something, or you're another maker looking to trade ideas, you’re in the right place. I’m not a big brand. I’m a husband, dad, and proud grandpa who loves solving problems, making cool stuff, and helping others do the same. Thanks for stopping by — now quit pokin' around and go see what we’ve got cookin’ in the shop.

𝗜 𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮 𝗥𝗢𝗕𝗢𝗧... .. 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲! 😂🤖🌿
Ladies and gentlemen, I have made a life-altering decision. I have officially retired from the soul-crushing, sweat-soaking, gas-inhaling chore that is mowing the lawn. Why? Because I bought a ROBOT to do it for me.

Behold, the 𝗬𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼 𝗟𝗮𝘄𝗻𝗺𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼 has arrived, and it came in not one, not two, but FOUR boxes, because apparently when you buy a robotic overlord, it comes in pieces. We've got the 𝗬𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲 (the brain and yes, it's smarter than I am), the 𝗬𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗼 𝗠𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 (aka the business end, home of the 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵... 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀), the 𝗬𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (because even robots need their beauty sleep), and the tiniest box of the bunch, the 𝗬𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 that powers this whole magnificent beast.

Now, for those of you wondering just HOW serious this machine is, this autonomous lawn-destroying tank rolls in at approximately 𝟮𝟯𝟳 𝗣𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗦. For reference, I placed a Pepsi Zero Sugar Cherry on top of the box just so you could fully appreciate the scale. 𝘐𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘻𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘵. The FedEx driver did not look happy. I was thrilled.

This thing 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘵𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧. It 𝘮𝘢𝘱𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘺𝘢𝘳𝘥. It 𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘪𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘣𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘴. It 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘸𝘯. It does everything except bring me a cold drink afterward and honestly, I'm already petitioning Yarbo for that as a future module.

My lawn has no idea what's coming. My neighbors are going to be either very impressed or very confused. 𝘗𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩.

Stay tuned, the unboxing and full chaos report is coming soon. 🎉

🎭✨ Go ahead… reach through your screen and TOUCH these. I'll wait. 👇

Because I promise you, if you were holding these earrings right now, your fingers would be tracing every single feather, every swirl of the masquerade mask, every bead of gold on the fleur-de-lis.

This isn't flat print. This is RAISED. TEXTURED. 3D. 🤯

I made these earings Using my Eufymake E1 UV printer to build up layers of UV ink to create actual tactile texture you can FEEL! Not just see. Run your fingertip across the mask and feel the ridge. Drag it across the feathers and feel each one. The detail is unreal.
💜💚💛 Purple, green, and gold Mardi Gras masquerade vibes with photography-level color AND a sculptural finish all on a wearable earring.

And yes, these can be made CUSTOM with YOUR design, YOUR logo, YOUR colors. Businesses, events, weddings, festivals.
If you can dream it, I can print it with color AND texture that people will literally stop you to touch. 😄

Something big is coming to the Shack! And it's got razor sharp spinning blades and wheels!!

I don't hype things up very often, but this one's earned it.
I just ordered the Yarbo Lawn Mower Pro and I am genuinely excited about this machine.

Now I know what you're thinking, "Gramps, what does a robot mower have to do with laser engraving?"

Fair question. Honest answer: not a thing.
But between running the shop and shooting content, I'm always looking for ways to claw back a little time. If this machine handles my 2 1/2 acre yard, that's more time in the shop making stuff (and more time I can spend loving on my granddaughter!).
That's reason enough for me!

Plus, I like to share things I actually believe in.

It's one of the most capable outdoor robots out there right now. Mowing, edging, and a whole lot more. (Snow blower attachment is also an option — not exactly flying off the shelves down here in Florida, but I'm sure somebody up north is loving that.)

Here's what's coming:
📹 YouTube videos — real, honest coverage as I set it up and put it to work. Good and bad, you'll see it all.
https://www.youtube.com/

🏡 Live demos — I'm working on becoming a local demo host, so if you want to see this thing run in person, that may be an option sooner than you think.

The good folks at Yarbo were kind enough to give all of my friends $200 off your own Yarbo Lawn Mower. That's not nothing.

The unboxing experience is part of the gift.

We just started UV printing our own branded packaging right here in the shop — and I'll be honest, I didn't expect to feel this good about a box. But when your name's on it, it better look the part.

Here's where I want YOUR opinion though:

When you order something handmade and it shows up in plain brown cardboard, does it cheapen the experience for you?

Or do you not care at all as long as what's inside is great?

No wrong answer. I'm genuinely curious where people stand on this. Drop it in the comments. 👇

The plumber outlasts the paralegal.

That's not a joke. That's where the smartest economists I've read are quietly landing on AI — and it has serious implications for what work is worth doing in the next ten years.

I wrote a piece on the blog about where this is all headed, the part nobody wants to say out loud, and why I think people who make real things with their hands are about to matter more than ever.

Opinion · Craftsmanship · Technology By Robert Lance Robaldo · Gramp's Lazer Shack LLC · May 2026 Let me say something that might surprise you coming from a guy who runs a custom woodworking and laser engraving shop: I'm not afraid of artificial intelligence. Lost your Man Card?

Maybe you cried at that last movie.
Maybe you asked for directions.
Maybe you just really like scented candles.

No judgment here.

Good news! I make replacements. Laser engraved, built to last, and nobody has to know what happened to the original.

This is Scooter.

His owner sent me a phone photo — just a big goofy golden retriever sprawled out on a bed, looking at the camera like he owned the place.

Sadly, Scooter has since crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

What you see in the first photo is what I sent back. Same dog. Same face. Just where he belongs now.

I had to do some work to get Scooter sitting up properly in the scene — he wasn't exactly posing for his portrait that day. But that's kind of the point. You don't need a perfect photo. You just need a photo.

I'll do the rest — and print it on a piece you'll hang on your wall and never take down.

If you've lost a pet and want to do something like this, send me a message.

You've probably seen this floating around:
8 ÷ 2(2+2) = ?

Half the comments say 1. Half say 16.
Here's why both sides think they're right.

Older math teaching treated implied multiplication, a number written directly next to parentheses like 2(4), as a grouped unit with higher priority. So 8 ÷ 2(4) meant 8 ÷ 8. Answer: 1.

Somewhere along the way, calculators and software standardized a simpler rule: multiplication and division are equal, just go left to right. Answer: 16.

Interestingly, not everyone agreed. Casio calculators still handle it the old way on many models. So you can hand two different calculators the same problem and get two different answers.

Because of the change in juxtaposition, any modern mathematician would tell you to use more parentheses and stop the argument before it starts.

Drop a 1 or a 16 below. Curious where y'all landed. 👇
