Popping by to thank you all for giving some of the new work new homes! Most pieces are due for delivery between today & tomorrow :)
Also wanted to yap a bit about some of the Ancient Roman Glass pieces, what it is, and why I love it so much 💫
As the name implies, these pieces are shards and broken bits of glass which would’ve been manufactured in Rome between 1st Century BCE and 5th Century CE. At the height of production, Rome was the number one manufacturer and exporter of glass products globally and used both casting and traditional glass blowing techniques to create cups, plates, bowls, perfume bottles, and other vessels.
While buried for nearly 2,000 years, the glass reacts with minerals in the earth and the most magical, iridescent & almost opalized patina forms on the surface of the glass.
Once unearthed, some of these pieces make their way to museums (peep slides 3 & 5, Metropolitan Museum of Art) while others make their way to places like the Tucson Gem Show, which is where I sourced these back in 2024.
Unforch, my source for the faceted pieces I used for this collection doesn’t have any more available, aaaaand neither do I… so unless I can manifest some more for Tucson ‘27, these are my last little bits of this wonderful material 🥲
