I chose to name my shop after the Bowerbird because it is such a fascinating creature, with instincts for collecting baubles & old things very similar to my own. A native of Australia, the Bowerbird is known for collecting all manner of interesting things to bring back to its home. It IS the male of the species who does this, in a stupendous artistic endeavor to create not so much a nest as a sedu
ction chamber; an epic bachelor pad. But what I love about the Bowerbird, regardless of its s*x, is the notion that it flies out regularly, and seeing something uniquely appealing, says "Yes! I must have it! It's beautiful! Or it WILL be, once I'm done with it!"
I have been a thrift store aficionado since I was 12 or 13, finding cool, old vintage pieces in the fabulous thrift stores of New York City, and I've been at in ever since, all over the country, and often abroad, adding flea markets & yard sales to my venues of choice for my own wardrobe, home and jewelry making supplies. I have collected many lovely things and made a lot of jewelry from vintage, repurposed & unusual pieces, findings & beads, with the hopes of some day having my own store, but rather than wait for the brick & mortar incarnation I figured I'd start putting things out there now...right here on good old Facebook! I will be showing jewelry, and vintage clothing, accessories & housewares, and these items can be purchased from me in person, if you are local (by appointment, at my home in Little Compton) or via message, & PayPal or Venmo, I can then send the items to you. Please feel free to message me with questions regarding pricing, or anything else, & I shall get back to you promptly! Thank you for visiting A Bowerbird Boutique!
