Ohhhh fall, I have missed you. 🤎🍁

Today I set out to drop off a few packages, peruse around some shops, and just enjoy the fact that the cooler weather has finally decided to show up. 🙌🏻🍂

Now if the rain would just STOP for five minutes, that would be great. 😂🌧️

Meanwhile, back at the homestead, I have ALL the fall vibes going on… cozy corners, candles lit, warm scents, pumpkins everywhere, and me fully pretending I have absolutely nothing else I should be doing. 😂🏡🕯️🎃

Next stop… Aldi’s. 🛒🤎 I’m grabbing everything I need to put together a cozy fall dinner for this evening because this weather is practically begging for something warm and comforting simmering on the stove. 🍲🍞🍁

Give me a rainy, cool evening, a cozy house, good food, and nowhere I need to be… perfection. 🤎

🌅💜 VIOLET HOUR 💜🌅

Last night , I watched the golden fields begin to fade into the most beautiful violet sunset… and I wanted to somehow capture that moment. 🌾✨

That little space between day and night when everything seems to soften. The sun slips behind the hills, the fields are still glowing gold, the sky turns shades of lavender and violet, and for just a moment… the world feels quiet. 💜

And that is how Violet Hour was born. 🌿🫖

I came inside and started blending… black goji berries, goldenrod, tulsi, oatstraw, spearmint and dried lemon. 🫐🌼🌿🍋

The goldenrod reminds me of our fields and the bees gathering those last beautiful blooms of the season. 🐝🌼 The black goji creates the most gorgeous deep violet infusion, while lemon and spearmint brighten the cup and tulsi and oatstraw bring everything together.

And ohhhh my goodness… 🤤💜 I’m drinking it as I write this, and it is delicious.

Sometimes inspiration isn’t something you go looking for.

Sometimes you just look outside at the right moment… 🌅

Goldenrod season 🌾💛🐝✨🍯

There is something so special about goldenrod that feels like the beautiful turning point between summer and fall here at Rumble Hill. 🌞➡️🍂

Goldenrod, Solidago spp., is one of the bees’ last important nectar and pollen resources before winter settles in. 🐝🌼🍯 When the fields turn golden, the bees get BUSY. They know colder days are coming, and every warm afternoon becomes another chance to bring home nectar and pollen for the hive. 💛🐝🏡❄️

And if you have ever opened a hive during a strong goldenrod flow, you know the smell. 😍🍯

Goldenrod honey has such a unique aroma inside the hive. It is rich, earthy, musky, sweet, and almost fermented smelling while the bees are working and curing the nectar. Some beekeepers are surprised by it, but I personally LOVE it. 💛🐝 To me, it smells like late summer, warm beeswax, fresh honey, sunshine, and fall waiting right around the corner. 🌾🍂☀️🍯

Goldenrod is also one of the plants I gather and preserve for my apothecary. 🌿🧺✨ I responsibly harvest the flowering tops while always leaving plenty behind for the bees and other pollinators. 🐝🦋💛 I dry goldenrod for herbal teas ☕🌼 and also create tinctures and herbal preparations that become part of some of my handcrafted skincare.

Goldenrod is especially meaningful in my Goldenrod Glow Foaming Face Wash ✨🫧💛 and Goldenrod Glimmer Face Scrub + Mask 🌼✨🧖‍♀️

Traditionally, goldenrod has been used in herbalism for its astringent, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, and soothing properties. 🌿💛 It contains naturally occurring plant compounds such as flavonoids and phenolic compounds, which have helped make goldenrod a beloved herb in traditional herbal preparations for generations. 🌼🌿✨

For me, goldenrod is so much more than a yellow flower growing along the fields. 💛🌾

It is pollinator food. 🐝
It is honey. 🍯
It is herbal medicine. 🌿
It is tea. ☕
It is skincare. ✨
It is one of nature’s final golden gifts before winter. 🍂❄️💛

While some people simply see a field of yellow, I see bees preparing their home for winter, herbs drying on the shelves, tinctures steeping in the apothecary, honey being stored in the hive, and ingredients that will eventually become something made by my own hands. 🐝🌿🍯🧺✨💛

There’s something so nostalgic about Labor Day… one last long summer weekend ☀️🌻🍉, the table full of good food 🍞🥧🌽, family gathered close 🏡❤️, laughter carrying a little longer into the evening ✨, and that first tiny hint that fall is just around the corner. 🍂🧡

Today is for slowing down, making memories, soaking in the sunshine, and holding onto these sweet end-of-summer moments just a little longer. 🌾🍯🐝🌼

🍂🏡 GETTING READY FOR LABOR DAY WEEKEND 🏡🍂

Three night shifts down… and now this night-shift zombie is officially switching into cozy hostess mode. 😂☕️🧺💐

My brother Robert, my sister-in-law Jaime, and my nephews Lynus & Mylo are coming in for Labor Day weekend, so I’m spending the evening getting Rumble Hill ready for family. 🥹🤎

Tonight’s little list…

💐 Arranging fresh flowers around the house
🛏️ Washing linens & making up cozy beds
🧺 Fresh towels folded and ready
🧹 Tidying up after three straight nights of work
☕️ Stocking the kitchen with coffee, snacks & all the good things
🕯️ Adding those little cozy touches that make a house feel like home

🐝 And of course… I had to go check on my girls during this heat wave.

They’re thriving, but whew… they are HOT. 🥵🐝

They’ve been hanging out all over the outside of their hives, helping keep their home cool in this ridiculous heat. There’s something kind of sweet about that too… all of us over here just doing our best to keep our homes comfortable for the ones inside. 🤎🐝🏡

And even though it is absolutely SMOLDERING outside 😂🔥, inside I am fully committed to pretending it’s fall.

Hi September 👋🏻🍂🤎✨

There’s something about September that always feels a little like coming home. 🏡🍁

The kind of feeling that takes you back to cooler mornings, screen doors open to the breeze, leaves beginning to gather along the road, football on in the background, cinnamon in the kitchen, and that first evening you realize you might actually need a sweater. 🧥🍎🏈☕✨

Summer is beginning to soften now. 🌻☀️
The days are still warm, but the evenings feel different. The sun is setting a little earlier, the air is getting a little crisper, and you can almost feel autumn waiting just around the corner. 🍂🌾🌙

Soon it’ll be cozy blankets piled on the couch 🧺🤎, candles glowing in the windows 🕯️, warm mugs between our hands ☕, pumpkin spice everything 🎃🍂, apple picking 🍎, porch pumpkins, bonfires 🔥, and those golden afternoons that somehow make you want to slow down and soak it all in. ✨

September always makes me nostalgic for simpler days… when fall meant new pencils ✏️, school clothes, crunchy leaves under your feet 🍁, homemade treats in the kitchen 🥧, and knowing the holidays weren’t too far away. 🎄❤️

And while I’m soaking up every last bit of summer, my little Rumble Hill world is already beginning to shift too. 🐝🌿🤎

I’ve been working behind the scenes on Christmas drops 🎄✨🎁 and I am SO excited for what’s coming.
