If a ring has a glass gem that needs replaced, why not replace it with uranium glass? 😁

This vintage 10k beauty had a glass gem in bad shape so I made it better. UG green in yellow gold is always a fab choice. The ring was made by Metzler in the late 1950s/early 1960s in an older Victorian style. It's such a pretty little piece.

Size 7.5 and now available in my shop, in the New in August section. Listing is in the "Links" at the top of my page πŸ’š

Just showing of this gorgeous antique necklace πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š

I sold this piece earlier in the week but I wanted to highlight it because I don't get a whole lot of pieces earlier than the 1930s. This one dates to the early 1920s. One thing I love about it is that the green gems are more of a mint green color than the classic peridot green.

I found this in a shop in Chicago. She had a dozen huge spinel rings (all priced too high for me) that were labeled as "vaseline glass." It can be very difficult to educate jewelers and dealers about spinels because it makes me sound a whole lot like "ACKSHUALLY..." She was not very interested 🀣

Edit: This set has sold πŸ’š I'm letting go of this set out of my personal collection πŸ’š

This is among the first uranium glass jewelry I ever bought. I just never wear it. The set deserves a new home with someone who will truly appreciate it!

It's a 1930s enameled necklace and bracelet with pressed uranium glass. Both pieces are marked Czechoslovakia.

I got a woman with a huge collection of Czech jewelry she was selling. I asked her to check her collection with a blacklight for me. She was the first person who ever said yes. Up until that point people blew me off or told me no. I bought a ton from her, like maybe $2k worth. Even now sellers won't check their stash for me. I guess they don't like money.

I do want to let you all know that FB will no longer let me out active links to my listings in the comments. They want me to pay $50 a month and even then I am only allowed eight links a month. I'm pretty mad about it. There is a "Links" at the top of my page where I can put it. The new things I post are always in the New in August section of my shop. It makes people have to hunt it down which super sucks. I can also send the link if you DM me.

I did put the link to the listing in the "Links" at the top of my page πŸ’š

New cadmium glass pieces! 🧑🧑🧑

Well the ring is vintage, but the red earrings are gems I had cut special for me. They are a beautiful pidgeon blood red. It's unusual to find cadmium glass in a vintage ring. I'm not entirely sure I have before.

Both pieces available in my shop, in the New in August section. See shop link at the top of my page 🧑

This is one of those pieces that stops people in their tracks 🀘

When I wear something like this, people will pass by me and then turn around and tap me on the shoulder to ask about it.

The blacklight glow is amazing, but the color of uranium glass is the real showstopper. People can see the vibrancy of it in natural light from across the room.

Of course when they stop and ask I get to talk to them all about it. Even now, most people don't know what it is. A lot of folks show a little bit of interest, but some go completely bonkers. Both are good, I just like talking about my jewelry πŸ˜„

This piece is vintage sterling and the big trillion pendant is so fabulous. Now available in my shop, in the New in August section. Link is also in the "Links" at the top of my page πŸ’š

If you have a piece that hasn't sold, try raising the price! My beaded curtain had been in my shop for several years. Two months ago, I looked at it and decided I was not charging enough based on the months of work it took, and the quality, amount, and rarity of the beads, so I raised the price $400. Yesterday it sold for $1,900!

There is a phenomenon in with art/jewelry/luxury goods/antiques called perceived value. With these items, buyers don't have an objective way to calculate worth, so they use the price as information. A $1500 piece of artwork and $1900 piece of artwork can be perceived very differently because the higher price signals rarity, importance, confidence, craftsmanship, and desirability.

There's also something called the price-quality heuristic: when quality is difficult to assess objectively, people often use price as a proxy for quality. So if something doesn't sell, the first instinct is to lower the price, but doing so can sometimes make it harder to sell because you've unintentionally changed the buyer's perception of the object.

There is also a spooky phenomenon in art/jewelry/antiques where when you give an object attention, it sells. When you talk about a piece, or pick it up and notice it hasn't sold in awhile, clean it, move it, or relist it, it will sell soon after. Artists and antique dealers talk about this all the time. It's so prevalent that when a customer tells me they want an item but they need to think about it, I will warn them "If you really like it, you better get it. Because I can tell you as both a buyer and seller, now that you asked after it, it will sell very soon." Even as a buyer this has happened to me. There is a pair of moonstone earrings I didn't get and still think about years later. They sat for sale for ten years before I wanted them.

People talk all the time about "charge what you're worth" as an artist, but I don't think this part of it is discussed enough!

I am very proud of this curtain. The strands are 6 feet long and it fits a 32 inch doorway. There are thousands of beads both vintage and new πŸ’š

Just snagged this vintage 10k gold UV spinel ring πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š

This one was actually listed as spinel which is unusual. It's a gem not a lot of people know about. Maybe my relentless education in online spaces is finally starting to work 🀣

Edit: This piece has sold πŸ’š

Just added this to the New in August section of my shop. I got this for a great price so it's only 349. I added a couple other nice spinel vintage pieces too. And check out my Featured Items at the top for some the other vintage UV spinel items I have!

I feel like I should post my new Egyptian cartouche beads so they can be properly appreciated πŸ’š

I recently went on a big bead buying trip and I have been sorting and listing all my new beads. It's a lot of work but I am stoked about all the beautiful new beads I found. These are particularly nice as they are large, about an inch long, and they have gold hieroglyph details.

I used to have these many years ago and I'm so glad I found more. I love Egyptian Revival jewelry because a lot of it was made with uranium glass because the discovery of King Tut's tomb in 1922 coincided with the the height of uranium glass jewelry design.

Check out the New in August section of my Etsy shop for all my new beads. I'll put the link to these Egyptian ones in the "Links" at the top of this page πŸ’š

I have only about half the beads listed. I plan to have the rest done by the end of the month!

New pieces made from a broken Kralik canes and lines tumbler 🀘I bought this pitcher tumbler set awhile back and one of the tumblers arrived broken, which sucks but I was able to make a lot of jewelry from it. Red/orange isn't a color I get to use very often so it's been fun.

I'm particularly fond of the necklace because it looks like a candle flame!

The ring is a size 7 and is now available along with the necklace, both sterling, in the New in August section.

I also added a bit lot of loose cabs I cut from the tumbler and from a broken French opaline vase so be sure to check that out too

The pitcher tumber set I am also parting with. I don't have it listed yet but my DMs are open. I have only 600 on the set since it is missing a tumbler, otherwise in great condition πŸ’š
