Harvested a huge bowl of blueberries over the weekend but the fun doesn’t stop there!
There’s a lot of stems, leaves, tiny brown spent flowers, immature fruit and spiders that don’t wash off in the colander.
So I soak the blueberries in a big bowl of water and pick off what floats to the top, including helping spiders out.
I keep stirring and picking until those blubes are debris-free.
We are still eating them fresh…and I just made a lemon-blueberry loaf…but soon I’ll start freezing some.

For the sake of the garden, sometimes you gotta do things that might go against your instincts.
Cucumbers like other Cucurbitaceae don’t like having their roots disturbed. So start from seed or if using seedlings, transplant carefully.
Also, Cucurbitaceae does better if there’s just one plant per space. So to thin your starts, rather than pulling them apart, cut them down to one plant.
I know it’s painful. But if you’re gonna be a great gardener and cool as a cucumber, you gotta be tough!

This is one of the most important garden tips you will get! And it’s so simple.
Green beans grow along a shoot, so don’t snip the whole thing off when you harvest.
Instead, pick each bean individually. It takes longer, but you’ll get way more beans in the long run.

Harvest🍓Every🍓Day!
Many people report issues with strawberries but do they harvest every day?
The more you harvest, the more berries will grow.
Strawberries are succulent, sweet and defenseless. Birds, slugs, pill bugs all want a taste. And since they grow in the ground (as opposed to being staked or on a bush) they are also susceptible to rot.
So lay down some straw and give those strawberries your undivided attention. 🍓❤️

🐌Today we are going to plant a seed snail. This gives us a lot of new sprouts in a small space. And we get to upcycle some plastic!
🐌I cut 6“ x 2‘ strips out of a soil bag. This does not need to be exact and in fact you can make them any size you like.
🐌Prepare some soil with lots of coir (see next video for more on that) and I added compost and perilite.
🐌Water it down so it’s quite moist but not sopping wet.
🐌Load your soil onto the plastic sheet. It’s ok to be messy!
🐌Roll the plastic over the soil forming a spiral.
🐌Tape the plastic together to hold the spiral.
🐌Take some of the extra dirt and pack it in the top and bottom.
🐌With your fingers, make small holes for the seeds.
🐌Place your seeds in each hole. Depending on the kind of seed, you can put 1-3 in each hole. Also be mindful of your planting depths. Bean or snap peas can go an inch or two under the soil, while lettuce should be sown very shallow, even rakes right on top of the soil.
🐌Cover gently with more soil if needed.
🐌 Write the name of the seed on the tape.
🐌Place seed snail in shallow tray and bottom water.
🐌 When your seedlings are big enough, simply unroll the snail and gently pull out your seedlings.
🐌 I will post an update when they are bigger!
