Shine — Why I Created This Piece
“If I shine... may I shine for You.”

When I look back over my life, I don’t see someone who had it all together.

I see a woman trapped in addiction...

Living behind lies...

Barely making it through high school...

Flunking out of college...

Losing job after job...

By most standards, I wasn’t someone people expected much from.

But Jesus saw something different.

Not because of who I was...

But because of who He is.

Little by little, He began rebuilding what I thought had been lost forever.

He gave me a gift for design that I never knew I had.

He grew it into a career I could never have imagined...

A company...

Awards...

Opportunities I never could have earned on my own.

Then, for fifteen years, He quietly prepared another work.

Not a business.

A story.

A testimony.

A book that could point people back to Him.

If anything in my life shines...

If anything I create encourages someone...

If anything I’ve accomplished is worthy of notice...

May it never stop with me.

May it always point to the One who took a lost cause and made her new.

Because every good thing in my life is simply a reflection of His grace.

Why I Created This Piece

I have been richly blessed by strong women.

Women who have loved me with patience, covered me with grace, and most importantly, spoken truth into my life.

Not their truth.

God’s truth.

Some have encouraged me.

Some have challenged me.

Some have gently corrected me.

And all have sharpened me.

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
— Proverbs 27:17

I believe every woman needs someone close enough to tell her the truth in love.

Someone who will celebrate the mountaintops with her…

But also sit beside her in the valleys.

Someone who will pray, listen, encourage, and lovingly point her back to God when life becomes confusing.

And I believe every woman should seek to become that person for someone else.

Not because we have all the answers.

But because we are growing in God’s truth ourselves.

That is why I created this piece.

As a reminder that we were never meant to walk this life alone.

We need each other.

And we need women who are willing to sharpen and be sharpened.

If you don’t have that person in your life, ask God.

He is faithful.

You may be surprised by who He brings into your life…

And by who He asks you to become for someone else.

May we all have a woman who lovingly speaks truth into our lives.

And may we become that woman for someone else.
