Today and every day we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. He believed that we all play a role in helping society and now more than ever, we stand behind our mission to tell untold multicultural stories by shining a light on those that would otherwise be overlooked while also uplifting our communities by continuously empowering them and giving back.

This month UWish has chosen to spotlight the work of Better Shelter () and their mission to bring awareness to the global climate change refugee crisis.

Through Better Shelter's "Structure" initiative, they've commissioned an original children's storybook, titled "Seeking Shanti," to highlight the issue of climate change and the families whose lives it affects.

The proceeds of every book sold go directly toward building actual homes that Better Shelter donates in places of need throughout the world where people have been hit by the devastating effects of climate change.

Through the shared intention of giving back, and through the shared medium of children's storytelling, UWish stands with Better Shelter this month with the shared goal of making the world a more generous place.

Meet I’m Alleanna - a Black female illustrator from NJ. Her work is phenomenal and her attention to detail is breathtaking. She specializes in creating picture books, middle grade covers, and editorial illustration. Saying that she loves mood and lighting would be an understatement. 🙌🏾 ✨ We love how she depicts people of color through her art.
