The Ohio meteorite fell a week ago in Medina county was found by Filip Nicodemo and Leon Thann the morning of Wed. March 26, 2026.

The Ohio meteorite is one of the most beautiful meteorites to ever land on Earth! It has the most exceptional glassy fusion crust I’ve ever seen. The rare few specimens display glass spikes with little glass spheres on the end. Utterly amazing!

This meteorite is an Achondrite and has no ferromagnetic metal in it and is impossible to find with a metal detector or magnet.

The achondrite is currently being analyzed and classified by a distributed team of the best meteoriticists from over 10 different universities and institutions throughout the United States. While the analysis and classification has not been completed, the general consensus of the professional meteorite community is that it is likely an HED Eucrite (basaltic unbrecciated) which are thought to have been ejected from the asteroid Vesta or one of the smaller V-type Vestoids.
