As the Communities Cinco de Mayo Festival marks its 30th anniversary Saturday, organizers are closing in on a milestone nearly three decades in the making: $1 million in scholarships awarded to local students. The free festival is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Kiwanis Park, 1117 S. Timberland Drive. The event will feature live music, food vendors, arts and crafts, business booths and scholarship fundraising through the Miss Cinco de Mayo and newly added Mr. Cinco de Mayo competitions.
