If you’ve ever wondered what happens behind the scenes at our studio… here’s a small peek. 👀

Jess handles the design side, marketing, photography, website design, product listings (and more!). Mike handles business management, customer service, personalization, production, assembly and shipping (also, and more!). Together we take each order from an idea on the screen to a finished piece ready for its new home.

That’s one of our favorite things about being a small business. We handle each of your requests from start to finish and really care how they turn out. 💜

A travel map you actually get to make your own. 💜 Paint the states you’ve visited, add pins to mark your specific adventures, and keep adding to it as you travel.

Our newest whimsical USA map is printed on 100% cotton canvas and is made for watercolor painting, so it becomes a little piece of art that tells the story of where you’ve been.

It’s a fun project for travelers, couples, teens, young adults, families, road trip lovers, and anyone who loves a little whimsy. It also makes a pretty special 2nd anniversary gift since it’s printed on 100% cotton canvas.

There’s a lot more that goes into a JW Design Studio map than what you see in the finished product. 💜

We’re a true husband-and-wife small business based in Luray, Virginia, and our push pin travel maps are brought to life by both of us.

Jess brings her background in design to the creative side. Creating our maps and artwork, developing the layouts, and bringing each personalized design together. Mike is our product manager (among many other things!) and takes it from there, handling individual personalization, large-format printing, assembly, finishing, and carefully packing each order.

So when you see a finished map, you’re seeing the result of a lot of hands on work from the two of us.

We love creating personalized travel maps that help you celebrate the places you’ve been, the adventures you’ve shared, and the ones still waiting for you. 🌎📍

After more than 13 years, we’re incredibly proud to have built our full time business on Etsy from the very beginning. What started as a dream has grown into something we’re lucky enough to do together every day.

We’ve officially launched our Shenandoah Wild Collection inside the JW Design Studio Gifts Etsy shop!

Shenandoah Wild began as a collection of designs inspired by our love of Shenandoah National Park, hiking, and the places that make us want to get outside. Now, we’re bringing those designs together under JW Design Studio Gifts — with many more to come.

We’re kicking things off with our Old Rag Circuit Trail Map Pennant, featuring the official Old Rag Circuit route, elevation lines, trail landmarks, and a little eagle to symbolize the strength and determination it takes to tackle one of Shenandoah’s most iconic hikes. 🦅

This is just the beginning. We have lots more Shenandoah and nature inspired art, trail maps, hiking goods, and outdoor designs in the works.
