Two and a half weeks. That's how long you have to stop thinking about it.

The PlumpJack Collection W**e Dinner at Table at the Lake is Sunday, September 27, and if you've been meaning to book a table, this is the reminder.

Four Napa producers in one evening, PlumpJack, CADE, Odette, and Adaptation, with Chef Casey building each course around the w**e in the glass. Mountain fruit from CADE, estate w**es from PlumpJack and Odette, and a menu that follows the season the way it always does there. The full menu and pairings are still to come, which is part of the fun.

W**e dinners at Table fill in the last stretch, not the first. Book it now and let the rest of September take care of itself.

When's the last time you actually walked downtown Greensboro? 🚶‍♀️

Not drove through it on the way to somewhere else. Walked it. Parked the car, wandered Main Street, poked into a shop or two, said hello to someone you haven't seen in a while. It's the kind of thing we tell visitors to do and then somehow never do ourselves.

Here's the excuse you needed: a slice of buttermilk pie at The Yesterday Cafe. It's the one that got written up in Southern Living, and it's every bit as good as the out-of-towners say it is. Creamy, a little nostalgic, and worth saving room for even after lunch.

So consider this your nudge. A slow afternoon downtown, a piece of pie at the end. Check it off the list this week.

If you knew every word to "Fly" in 1997, this one's for you.

Rhythm & Brews is back at Sandy Creek Barn on Friday, October 23, and this year the lineup is pure late-'90s radio: Sugar Ray headlining, with Vertical Horizon opening. Every song you sang in the car with the windows down, live on the lawn, with a b**r in your hand and the sun going down behind the barn.

It's OPAS's biggest night of the fall, put on with Reynolds Lake Oconee, and it's the one evening a lot of us circle before anything else on the calendar. Food trucks, craft b**r and w**e, and a crowd that's mostly people you already know.

Fair warning: the VIP tickets are already gone. General admission is still open, but this one doesn't stay open long.

Lake Country Books & Gifts turns two on Thursday, September 17, and they’re celebrating all day, 10 to 5. Two years of the shop where we go in for one book and leave with three, a candle, and a card for someone we forgot about.

Some nights are worth the drive. 🍷

The Dining Room in Madison settles the oldest dinner debate there is: one of you wants the dish you can't pronounce, the other wants to know there's a steak. Adventurous one takes the three or four-course prix fixe (menu changes nightly, that's the fun). Other one orders right off the menu. Then somebody says "w**e pairings?" and the answer is yes.

Thirty minutes from the lake, free parking on the historic square, and dessert you will not skip. Reserve a table and make a night of it.
