Solon C. Phillippe’s iconic fly rod and reel from the Museum of the State of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg made to commemorate his father, Samuel Phillippe, who is widely recognized as the inventor of the 6-strip split-bamboo fishing rod in the United States around 1846.

Greatly saddened by the death of my friend Rick Bannerot. Rick lead a life in full—a phenomenal angler, photographer and sportsman. He was also my favorite reader and editor for my books and gave generously of his heart and time to the Anglers’ Club of New York and his friends. My condolences to his family and all of his many friends.

Recently found some beautiful watercolors of flies that were featured in books by Charles Orvis and John Harrington Keene in the 1880s and 90s. Lovely work by an unknown artist.
