Okra appreciation! This has been the best okra year we've ever had! It's been so fun and so prolific! Wow! More okra coming this weekend to market!

Early morning garden stroll! My late fall/winter seeds arrived, yay! Maybe I'm a little late, but I'm trusting my instincts this year ;) The hoop house is ready to go!

Why pumpkins? They are on the outside and it's all I can see, lol!

It's not often that you get to pick a couple of perfect tomatoes! First pumpkin of the year and the squash patch still surviving! I'm a little worried about squash production but we'll see when we see!

The forecast has changed every time I open my weather app! This morning the extended forecast looks a lot better than it did. Let's hope it continues to trend downward. 🤞

Good news! Pecan butter is back this week and we now have even more honey! Our chickens have been enjoying a cold water bath for their feet so they are all doing ok.

Bad news! The veg is slowing down a bit, unfortunately we'll be picking in 100 degrees tonight so I can't say for sure what we'll have. There's quite a bit out there so maybe ok. Also, please come grab potatoes to either eat or process and store! We're not sure how much longer they'll be around. By the way, of course, we had a group of UNwashed go bad. Mmmm hmmm ;)

Quick morning stroll and pondering the first frost. Oct 10th is just around the corner and yet seems eons away. The idea of bringing house plants inside seems ludicrous. I think the frost is either gonna be super late or it's gonna sneak up on us. Last year our first patchy frost was Oct 18th, which is super late! We've had a frost here as early as October 3rd. With Spring being so unusual, I wonder what Fall will be like?

Wow! Boy did everything dry out fast! 100 degrees and 40 mph winds are a recipe for a garden disaster if you aren't prepared. We've resorted to overhead watering the winter squash which isn't great but there's no other choice if we want to keep it alive! One minute everything looks great and the next it's dead if you're not careful. I did lose some leaves around the peremiter. Yikes! It's gonna be a tough week.

Lots to see on your milkweed plants and by the way the asters have started blooming! It's a great time to plant native plants!
