Every one of these stems grew on a real pumpkin, and every one is signed by the artist who made it.
We’ve carried Hot Skwash velvet pumpkins for fifteen years. This fall is our last. They’ve stopped selling wholesale, and what’s on our table now is the final order we’ll ever get. This artist was the first to make velvet pumpkins by hand in the US, but knock-offs and rising prices made it impossible for her to wholesale anymore. I'm so glad she can focus on her retail shop, but it makes me a little sad for this harbinger of fall to be gone from Perch Home forever. I consider them heirloom pieces.
If you’ve been meaning to start a collection, or add the one you didn’t buy last year, come pick one out this week. 89 Baker Street, Maplewood.
