Teen Mental Health Check In:
Teens may not always say when something is bothering them. Make time to check in, ask open-ended questions, and listen without judgment.

“What do you wish adults understood better?”
“What’s been the hardest part of your week?”
“What’s one thing I could do to support you better?”

You don’t always have to have the perfect response. Creating a safe space to talk, and listening without immediately trying to fix the problem can go a long way.

With the recent increase in measles cases in metro Atlanta, PAMPA Pediatrics is now offering an early MMR vaccine dose for infants 6 through 11 months of age.

The American Academy of Pediatrics advises that early MMR vaccination may be recommended for infants in this age group during a community measles outbreak.

The MMR vaccine protects against measles, mumps, and rubella. For families who would like additional protection for their infant during this period of increased measles activity, please contact our office to discuss early vaccination.

IMPORTANT: An MMR vaccine given before 12 months of age does not count toward your child’s routine 2-dose MMR vaccine series.

We also recommend contacting your insurance company to confirm coverage for the additional vaccine.

Children who received their first MMR vaccine at 12 months of age or older may receive their second MMR vaccine as early as 28 days later. This early second dose counts toward the routine two-dose MMR series.

Please call our office or contact us through the patient portal if you would like to schedule your child’s vaccination.

In honor of Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, we’re encouraging families to focus on simple habits that support lifelong health, including balanced meals, water, daily movement, good sleep, and healthy screen time limits. Small changes made together as a family can make a big difference over time.

MYTH: Yellow or green nasal mucus means your child has a bacterial infection and needs antibiotics.

FACT: Not necessarily! During a common cold, nasal mucus often becomes thicker and changes from clear to yellow or green. This is commonly caused by a viral infection and does not automatically mean antibiotics are needed.

When in doubt, we can help determine whether your child’s symptoms are viral or may need further treatment. 💙
