What a beautiful legacy!! Stop by Friday and grab you a delicious dessert

The history of Pop Dave's Pies spans several years, originating long before its official establishment in 2005. The late Pop Dave's passion for baking began when he was a boy, sneaking into the kitchen at night to create treats, inspired by his grandmother's cooking skills. After serving as a paratrooper in the elite Long Range Reconnaissance patrol divisionofcthe army, Dave turned to making peanut butter fudge as a means to gift his family during Christmas, eventually becoming an annual tradition. Following his marriage to Lady Pop Dave, he realized his dream of starting a fudge-making business, which later evolved into Pop Dave's Pies due to the popularity of his baked goods. The company prides itself on using high-quality ingredients, many of which are homegrown or sourced locally, with every component made from scratch. After Pop Dave's health declined in 2018, Lady Pop Dave ensured his legacy by meticulously documenting his recipes and techniques. Sadly, Pop Dave passed away in September 2025, but Lady Pop Dave continues to uphold his dream of bringing nostalgic warmth through their pies. The secret ingredient in each pie is love, a component that cannot be purchased. While their pies may be pricier than others, the effort put into providing exceptional products is evident. When consuming a Pop Dave's Pie, customers are met with a sense of nostalgia and warmth, reminiscent of grandma's cooking.

When God provides, I mean, flies your neighbors trampoline into your yard during a storm…

You take advantage and make another “moongate” in your garden.

We have 2 now one as the entrance towards our greenhouse and one as the entrance to our new Grandkid Village.

They look like they were just meant to be together. ♥️

We have trumpet vine growing on one and on the other one we have a native honeysuckle! We are excited to see how these moon gates grow and bloom, and excited to add one more grand entrance to our nook and cranny Homestead.

The word on the street is the neighbors are getting a new trampoline very soon because they are grandparents and it was their grandkid’s favorite toy!
(This Grammy totally understands!)

Climbing Roses are my “One Weakness” I want them everywhere on our homestead.

We have 6 so far…

Everytime they bloom is just magical! I feel like I am in a stone cottage in the countryside of England.

I have been so blessed by the overwhelming love, care, and support from our sweet customers & community the last month (and longer!) as I dove back into Markets after surgery.

Knowing my full recovery is still a few months out I am trying to be more intentional to take a break a slow down (might still get out into the gardens… 😆)

I will miss this sweet community this week!

Friends please stop by and support ALL my friends & the amazing small businesses they run this Friday, its going to a beautiful day!

I look forward to seeing you next week!
(And will have a special NEW ITALIAN TREAT!!)

Did you say Chicken????

We have a wonderful week of highlights coming!!!

🐔 Mystery Solved!

This week’s Taste of the Market feature is pasture-raised chicken, raised right here in Upland at Goldenrod Acres!

From homemade soup and chicken salad to Sunday dinners and weeknight favorites, chicken is one of the most versatile ingredients in the kitchen.

Around here, we’ve heard more than a few people say Goldenrod Acres has the most tender, flavorful chicken they’ve ever tasted.

We believe that’s the result of a farmer who truly loves what they do. Ben & Erika put time, care, and attention into raising healthy birds on pasture, with the goal of providing nourishing food for their neighbors and community. It’s the kind of local agriculture we’re proud to support at the market.

Fun fact: Goldenrod Acres sold out of chicken at Fresh Roots City Market in Gas City last weekend!

We can’t let our neighbors have all the fun, can we? 😏

If pasture-raised chicken is on your shopping list, plan to stop by early Friday.

What’s your favorite way to prepare chicken?

Join us Friday at Upland Park from 4:30-7:30 PM to stock your freezer, support local farmers, and discover the difference local food can make.

Recovering from a hysterectomy and extensive Endometriosis removal my doctor said I’m not allowed to lift anything heavier than a loaf of bread for two months but being in a cottage baker I made some exceptions…

This has become a common saying in my house lately. My husband and sons are very kind to remind me that they can carry things heavier than a loaf of bread and I need to let them help & be more careful!
