Some of the products in my shop started with a customer asking for them. ❤️

When someone requests something I think would be a great addition to my shop, I try to add it if I can.

My Bug Lotion Bars, Goat Milk Lotion, Vegan Soap, Coconut-Free Tallow Soap, and Shave Soap are all products that are in my shop because someone asked me about making them.

I'm also working with a few trusted makers to bring in some additional products soon that I don’t have time to make myself - including bath bombs, shower steamers, hair conditioner bars, and cream deodorant. I’d love to make ALL the things, but alas, we’re each only one person. 🥰

So, if there's a favorite scent or product you don't see in my shop, don't be afraid to ask! You might just give me my next product idea. 😊

A few months ago, I happened to see a reel from The Friendliest Flower pop into my feed of the most beautiful handmade pottery pill holder. As someone who takes a combination of four medications and supplements each day and previously did so by opening each bottle that lived on my desk, I knew I needed one.

I got my name on the preorder list, and coincidentally, mine was ready right around the time of my birthday. I guess our gifts get a little less exciting as we get older ... but, I am excited about it! 🎉

Anyway, thanks so much Abbey - I love it! 😍

I'm excited to share that I'll be at the Slayton Women of Today's Autumn Boutique for the first time this year, September 11-12 at the Murray County Fairgrounds. It's an awesome show and I usually have a really great time going as a shopper, but this year I'll be in the Heritage Hall with goat milk soap, goat milk lotion, tallow balm, and more. Whether you're in the area or are looking for a fun road trip, stop by and see me! 🥰

Some people relax with a good book.
Some go shopping.
Some take a slow country drive.

But Marshall? All he needs is a boat, a fishing rod, or a day in the woods. 😂

So naturally, I had to make a couple of soaps designed for his favorite ways to spend time outdoors.

🎣 Fisherman’s Soap is made with anise and lemon essential oils. Anise is a scent that fish are attracted to, and the strong essential oil also works well to get rid of lingering fishing smells. Plus, the pumice and walnut shell powder give your hands some extra scrubbing power.

🦌 Hunter’s Soap smells like... dirt. Literally. 😂

Marshall used to buy a commercial liquid hunter’s soap until he discovered a bar of dirt-scented soap from a small-batch soapmaker back in the days before I was one. One bar was all it took, and he was hooked.

Whether you’re headed to the woods, the water, or just enjoying a little time outside, we’ve got a bar for that. 🌲🎣

Which one would you reach for?

I took a peek at my feed today and it’s been a bit since a food post … so I decided tonight’s dinner was a good one to share!

I like to share food not so much to share specific recipes, but to share the simplicity of cooking with fresh ingredients and local food. I cooked everything you see here in under 30 minutes!

It’s been a bit of a bummer garden year here, but tonight we had okra from our garden, and I made succotash with peppers and tomatoes from our garden, local sweet corn, onions from the store, and some rice. We had it with blackened walleye that Marshall or I caught and froze, though let’s be honest - he probably caught it. 😂

There was also some Frank’s RedHot that joined the party, as it often does around here. 🌶️

What are you enjoying from your garden or farmers’ market this week?

My essential oil soap collection just got a little bigger! 🌿

For those who prefer naturally scented and colored goat milk soap, I've expanded my essential oil soap options.

The collection now includes blends that are peaceful, grounding, fresh, herbal, floral, and everything in between. Each one is made with quality essential oils and natural plant ingredients, and each has its own scent and personality.

You'll notice these soaps are $1 more than my other bars, simply because essential oils cost more than fragrance oils. Otherwise, they use the same base recipe and ingredients as my scented and unscented goat milk soaps.

I'm also excited to share that I'll be releasing one seasonal EO blend each quarter. Firefly Fields was my summer creation, a blend of lavender, orange, and ylang ylang that's also available now. 🧼

Which blend are you most curious to try?

I was recently featured in Voyage Minnesota! ✨

I had the chance to share a little about the story behind Preserving My Sanity - how a hobby grew into a small business, what I've learned along the way, and some of the people who have helped me get here.

It's always a little strange to look back and realize how much has changed since I first started. What began as something I enjoyed doing has grown into something that connects me with customers, local farmers, other small businesses, and so many wonderful people in our community, state, and country.

Thank you, Voyage Minnesota, for the opportunity to share a little of that story. 💛

I'd love for you to take a look!
