Tell first energy they can shove this proposal right up their asses. We’re not compromising our beautiful Ohio for tech billionaire’s and Wall Street profits.

Well… I had high hopes this season for our safflowers but Mother Nature had other plans. The month long August rains was more than this western dry land crop could handle. They all died before they could even bloom. I guess this ends my experiment of trying to grow them here in Ohio for our birdseed. Our weather has become too unpredictable and extreme for this crop.

These two picture show the drastic difference a few weeks can make if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Here’s a quick look at our Organic Turkey Red Wheat field as it warms up with the soil. After harvest, this famous heirloom wheat will head over to our friends at and to be stone milled and turned into deliciousness... hopefully on a table near you!
