Good morning Marysville peeps!!

Looking for some input, but first a little background info…
Cash mobs have been supporting local businesses since 2011 and through the years there have been rules and guidelines that have evolved and a few sites that claim to be the official word on the subject. When I first looked into starting one here, I saw a group in a neighboring county that brought in a few positive twists and took away a few of the rules that quite frankly I disagreed with (I’m happy to discuss these in person along with my reasons if you ever want to chat!).

It was brought to my attention that by combining a variety of models I was no longer following the Cash Mob formula. So…we need a new name and that’s where you come in! I’m looking for suggestions with these thoughts in mind:
1. The phrase cash mob was used as a homage to flash mobs, but instead of groups of people popping up dancing, we’re a group of people popping up to shop.
2. Our goals are to gather as a community to support a local small business, most often a retail location and meet others who enjoy the element of surprise and making someone’s day.
3. We encourage participants to not only visit the target shop but to also take the opportunity to support the other businesses in the area after our “mobbing”.
4. Key words are uptown and/or Marysville.

Please drop any suggestions in the comments below. Maybe read through some of our posts to see if that triggers an idea.

Thank you! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Best wishes…SP 🩵

Save the Date!! Our next shopping day is January 27th at 1:00 pm. We’ll be meeting at Homestead Taproom & Kitchen - Marysville so we can grab a MORA beverage (if you choose) to take with us shopping. Or, come early and grab lunch…I highly recommend the Drunk Cluck! Once we’re gathered we’ll head out to surprise our “target” for the day 🛍️

Our sponsor for the next event is Shearer-Banks Insurance & Associates, LLC located on Sixth Street. They will be providing 20 community members with $10 each to spend at the chosen uptown shop. While this gift from our sponsors is amazing, it is our hope that you will spend another $5 or $10 of your own money while out. If you’re feeling frisky, maybe plan to spend $27 on the 27th!

Afterwards, feel free to wander around uptown and check out all the other great retailers, food establishments and local watering holes. While we know this one afternoon of fun & shopping will not save any business, imagine the morale boost that one of our shop owners will feel seeing their store filled with paying customers. You get the benefit of making someone’s day and hopefully meeting some new shopping friends.

One week ago tonight we had our first uptown Cash Mob!! Thank you to Slushed Up for our MORA beverages while we waited for everyone to gather.

Congratulations to Plumm Home for being our “victim” 🛍️ Watch for our video to be posted soon. Want to be a part of this movement? Our next mobbing will take place on a Saturday afternoon in late January. Details will be posted soon!

Our sponsor for the first Cash Mob is Wander & Wild, a local gift shop featuring many locally made products as well as unique gifts from around the country.

What does it mean to be a Cash Mob sponsor? Each month that business will be giving us $200 so that each of our 20 shoppers has $10 to spend in a local business that we surprise on the night of the Cash Mob. While it is our hope that each of those 20 spend a little more than $10, we look forward to the morale boost a group of people shopping in their store at once will give. ♥️
