Ever wonder what happens before a wreath becomes a finished piece? 👀

Well… THIS. 😂
This is my Magnolia wreath, and as you can see, it is definitely a work in progress!

I’ve already taken it apart twice while trying different ideas.
When I start a design, I don't necessarily know exactly where every single element is going to end up. I place something, step back, look at it from a distance, move it around, try something else… and sometimes I decide, “Nope. Not working.” 😂

So I experiment.
I move things. I change the placement. I take something off and try it somewhere else. I may try several different combinations before I finally get the look I'm after.

And this one?
It's STILL not finished. 😂

That's something I think people don't always realize about handmade work. A finished wreath doesn't just magically come together because I have all the right pieces sitting on my worktable.
There's a process.

Sometimes it's easy. Sometimes it's frustrating. Sometimes I completely change direction.

But I keep experimenting until I can step back and say:
“Yep. NOW it's right.” ❤️

So I thought I'd give you a little peek at the part you normally don't get to see—the messy, unfinished, figuring-it-out part of creating.

Good morning, friends! 💜

After a big show weekend, I’ve learned that the first thing I need to do is stop and take a breath before I start creating again. 😂

Matthews Alive is behind me, and now I’m looking ahead to Autumn Treasures in Waxhaw on October 10th. 🍂🧡

I’m going through my inventory and thinking about which pieces I want to bring with me. I’m also still enjoying my Halloween creations—especially the ones with a little extra personality. 🎃🖤

There’s something really fun about this part of the season. Halloween is still happening, fall is moving in, and Christmas is quietly waiting around the corner. 🎄😂

For now, though, I’m concentrating on one show at a time and enjoying the creative process.

Good morning, friends! 💜

After the whirlwind of Matthews Alive, I’m finally getting my feet back under me—and now my attention is turning toward Autumn Treasures in Waxhaw on October 10th! 🍂🧡

I’m going through my inventory, getting things organized, and looking at my fall pieces with fresh eyes.

I have to admit, I’m still enjoying the Halloween creations I made for the show. 🎃🖤 Some of those pieces have WAY too much personality to just pack them away! 😂

But now it’s time to start thinking about fall and what I want to bring to Waxhaw.

And, of course, there’s a little Christmas voice in the back of my head reminding me that Christmas Extravaganza at the Cabarrus Arena & Event Center will be here before I know it. 🎄

Good evening, friends! 💜

Today was one of those “back to the drawing board” days for me. After Matthews Alive, I’m looking at my inventory with fresh eyes and thinking about what I want to take to Autumn Treasures in Waxhaw on October 10th. 🍂

I’m still surrounded by Halloween pieces, and honestly, I’m having a hard time putting them away because I had so much fun making them! 🎃🖤

But now my focus is starting to shift toward fall. I love this part of the creative process—looking at what I already have, deciding what belongs together, and figuring out what I might want to create next.

And somewhere in the back of my mind, Christmas Extravaganza at the Cabarrus Arena & Event Center in November is waiting patiently. 😂🎄

Good morning, friends! 💜

Now that Matthews Alive is behind me, I’m officially in that “okay… what’s next?” stage. 😂

I’ve spent the last few days getting my show things back under control, but my creative brain is already looking ahead.

My next show is Autumn Treasures in Waxhaw on October 10th! 🍂🧡

That means I’ve got some time to work on fall pieces, get my inventory organized, and decide what I want to bring along with me.

And yes… I’m still enjoying my Halloween creations, too! 🎃🖤💜 I’m definitely not ready to put those away just yet.

After Autumn Treasures, I’ll turn my attention toward Christmas Extravaganza at the Cabarrus Arena & Event Center in November. 🎄✨

So there’s plenty happening behind the scenes here at Wreath and Vine Designs—and I’m excited to take you along for the ride!

Now, I’m off to see what needs to be done first. 😂💜

Good morning, friends! 💜

After a very busy Matthews Alive weekend, I’m finally getting back into my normal rhythm—and today I’m turning my attention back to Halloween! 🎃🖤💜

I’ve still got some of my spooky creations here in the studio, including Dapper Jack, my big lighted pumpkin display. He definitely has a personality all his own! 😂

One thing I love about creating seasonal pieces is that I don’t want them to feel like something you pull out for a few weeks and then forget about. I want them to make you smile every time you walk past them.

So today I’m going to spend some time getting the Halloween pieces organized and thinking about how I want to show them off next.

And yes… I’m already thinking about what I want to create next. Apparently my brain didn’t get the memo that I just finished a craft show. 😂



🌙 EVENING POST

I think my creative brain is officially awake again. 😂💜

There’s something about finishing a big show that gives me a chance to step back and look at my work differently.

After seeing my Halloween pieces displayed together at Matthews Alive, I’ve been thinking about what makes each one special—and how much personality I like putting into my seasonal designs.

That’s exactly what I love about pieces like Dapper Jack and my skeleton creations. They aren’t just decorations to me. I want them to have a little attitude, a little humor, and that “wait… I need to look at that again!” quality. 😂🎃

And now I’m getting that familiar feeling…

I have an idea.

I’m not saying what it is yet because it’s still rolling around in my head—but if you’ve been around here awhile, you know that’s usually where the trouble begins.

Today was a little bit of unpacking, a little bit of organizing, and a whole lot of “where am I going to put all this?” 😂

After a big show, it’s easy to focus on the finished booth and forget about everything that happens afterward.

Boxes have to be emptied. Supplies have to be sorted. Pieces have to be put back into their proper places. And my poor dining room has to remember that it is, in fact, a dining room and not a craft-show staging area. 😂

But once I get through all of that, I get to do something I really enjoy—look at what I have and start thinking creatively again.

I still have some wonderful Halloween pieces here, and I’m excited to give them some attention now that the show is behind me. 🎃🖤💜

And knowing me, there’s probably already another idea bouncing around in my head somewhere.

That’s usually how it starts… “I wonder if I could…” 😂💜

What a weekend!

I’m coming home tired, happy, a little emotional, and extremely grateful. 😂

There is so much work that happens behind the scenes before a craft show ever opens—the designing, creating, photographing, tagging, packing, hauling, setting up, rearranging… and then doing it all again when it’s time to come home!

But getting to stand in my booth and watch people stop to look at something I created with my own two hands makes every bit of it worth it. 🥰

Thank you to everyone who stopped by Wreath and Vine Designs by Charlene this weekend. Whether you purchased something, admired my work, asked me about how something was made, followed my page, or simply took a moment to say hello—you were part of my weekend, and I appreciate you more than you know. 💜

Now… I think I’m going to sit down for a minute before I even THINK about unpacking those boxes. 😂

So yesterday was brutally hot and we had to close up around 3:45p due to severe weather warning but some vendors did stay and reopen but we were wiped out from the heat and didn’t reopen. But we came back bigger and better (space/layout wise) today!! I think we will continue to set up this way for our next 2 shows. Come on out and visit us today until 8p and tomorrow from 9a -5 and check out our new setup!

Good morning! 💜

Today is officially setup day for Matthews Alive, and I have to admit… I have a little bit of that excited/nervous feeling going on! 😂

I've spent the last few days getting everything ready, including finishing up some of my Halloween pieces and getting all of those little price tags attached. Now it's time to load everything up and turn an empty booth into Wreath and Vine Designs by Charlene!

Setup starts this afternoon, so today is going to be BUSY. But I'm so excited to see all of these handmade pieces together in one place.

If you're planning to come to Matthews Alive this weekend, come find me! I'd absolutely love to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones. 🥰 (BOOTH 24)
