Two pieces with story and history...headed to the shop of a fellow veteran. Cannot wait to see them finished and then to a great benefit auction.

Sugar Maple half log crotch section...freehand cut spring 2020. Origin...this is a piece of one of the many Sugar Maple trees that lined the entry drive to Harrisburg Military Post (HMP)/HQ 28ID PA National Guard.

White Oak small...stunning crotch figured piece from 1757 "Witness tree" that grew about 8 miles west of Carlisle. "Possible" that General Washington and troops saw this tree when they marched past in 1794 on their way from Carlisle to western Pennsylvania to suppress the Whiskey Rebellion.

Down to the nubbins. I don't know the origin of that phrase, but we are there.

Last measurable pick of Blueberries and near the end for Blackberries for the 2026 Wolf Lair season. This pick makes 37.5 quarts of Blueberries from the 19 bushes and 97.5 quarts of Blackberries from the about 160' of blackberry row.

Not the best year and certainly not the worst.

One of the cooler Mother Nature things I have seen lately...three Osprey (I am pretty sure )circling and screeching overhead. Sound up, zoom in.

The camera work is not great and it didn't pick up the sound all that well...but hopefully good enough.

I thought at first maybe immature Bald Eagles because those are more common around here. But, I was able to freeze-frame and get a good look at two of them and they have the distinctive black patch mid way on the front underside of their wings.

Any real bird experts able to confirm or deny?

When we moved here 28 years ago, a Bald Eagle sighting was a big deal. Now we see them very frequently and know of several nests in the proximity. I don't think I saw an Osprey here until about 10 years ago. Now, while not common, we see them occasionally. This is the first time I have seen more than one at a time.

There has been a lot of hard work into protecting habitat and reducing risks for these beautiful birds. Let is continue those good efforts!

Ok folks...I love eating mushrooms. But I am not at all risky about them and absolutely am not eating these. Seems in an earlier post (when they looked a bit falic) that some were concerned about me munching on them. But...NO.

However, I am curious. I don't recall seeing this type of mushroom growing here in the past. So...who knows anything about this mushroom...species, edible or not, what specific conditions it likes to grow in, etc.

This area of the yard is just grass. Maybe 30+ years ago it was garden. And, it is adjacent (few feet away) from a lilac bed that is munched every couple/few years.

Let me know, please, if you know.

Great. Thanks Facebook! I get these weekly goals to meet on this (our Wolf Creek Live Edge business page) previously, it was stuff I knew and have done before. Except for that "create trailers" thing that I tried and now cannot seem to turn off.

This morning...after unkindy resetting all of my metrics to zero...it came back and said, create 7 new stories...in the three days left in this week. Argh. Don't think I have ever done a "story" or even looked at/watched one?

Who is a guru on this?
If it is you, please respond with some advice...please.

Pic...just for attention :) But, it is a pretty cool piece!

It started raining and I think i got DRIER! Holy crap it is wicked humid.

1st of a couple days working in a narrow little back yard that requires wheelbarrow to haul things in and out along an about 30 yard access right of way between yard back fences. Not ideal, but a wonderful homeowner and some curious wood.

Today was clearing the access way from several blow down Black Locust stems. Then tackling a 12' Black Locust stump. I had hoped for some really cool irregular slices. What I got from top to bottom was a whole bunch of 1/3 or 1/4 cool irregular pieces. Not ideal, but a lot of neat pieces that will make excellent smalls.

Probably about 1/4 done, but the rest will wait for a couple weeks.

I am smoked and soaked...and, the air is getting sparky! Loading final pieces in the truck, I could feel the sweat actually running down my legs and my feet sloshing in boots. Amy is gonna be really thrilled with the grubby factor of me and these cloths!

Sawyers...what were you working on today?

HEY...Husqvarna, that is just mean!

Husqvarna 3120XP muffler bolt. Square head! Doesn't fit 10mm or 11mm socket. Too small for 12mm. Fits 10mm open-end wrench. But...head is recessed into the face of muffler. So, 10mm open end...at final tightening depth...you can get about 1/3 purchase on the bolt head.

Am I missing something simple?

Is there some standard socket for this that I should know about and have? And, yes, I tried SAE too...same result, some too small, some to big...just like Goldilocks :)

Is this just evil on behalf of Husqvarna?

Do they make a special tool for this that they only distribute to dealers...to encourage dealer not user service?

Anywho...tight as I can get it.
