I get asked "what's your fragrance" a lot, and the honest answer is: I don't use fragrance, I use essential oil, and they're not interchangeable. One comes from an actual plant. This may surprise you: this loaf is finished and still wet, straight out of the mold. Right now it's green, but as it cures over the next few weeks, it turns blue. I wish I knew this sooner: most store-bought "soap" isn't even legally allowed to be called soap. That's why it says "body bar" or "beauty bar" on the label — the glycerin's been stripped out and sold off to make lotion. Real soap keeps its glycerin, which is what actually keeps your skin from drying out. Now you know 👇

Unmolding this one and cutting into it for the first time — blue on the outside, green on the inside. I know how that looks, but this is completely normal for indigo. I've made this soap enough times to know exactly what it becomes: over the next 6 weeks of curing, it settles into one true color. Eucalyptus, rosemary, and cedarwood.
