This is why i love fishing- after restocking rigs and floats from pomp-elite.com at the local tackle shops , I headed to South Melbourne beach to get in an hour or so. Only one rod, bag of frozen shrimp, and some dry looking fish bites. Water was pretty rough with a strong pull to the north. Had a 4 oz sput but a 5 would have been better. Outgoing tide, around 4pm. Anyway, non stop action if you didn’t mind a few w**ds, 4 small whiting, 2 drum and a palometa before the sharks moved in . Didn’t get my hour in , but a fun 1/2 hour. Maybe a foreshadowing of the weekend?! 12 new color combinations of rigs at Man Overboard, Riggs Outpost, Whiteys and a limited supply at Black Dog( ask for them by name) . 22 float colors online if you tie your own. My buddies Rick and Roy joined me this am on Hobe Sound - it was the maiden voyage of Rick’s moon rover with the new added motor- plenty of power over the dune and long trail from the parking lot. Lots of w**ds on the beach .One pomp13” and several sand perch, a nice whiting and small blue runners when the water was clear. All on pomp-elite.com candy corn or yellow colors. Water turned milky as the tide came in and then several huge mullet schools swam by and whatever was following them ( I suspect Bluefish) shredded four of our six pomp rigs immediately, and with the bite slow anyway packed it up. Don’t forget Capt. B’s free tournament and meet up at Mavericks in Satellite beach tomorrow.

Saturday Melbourne B*h. , late afternoon , clouds rolling in - headed down for an hour - 2 pomp’s , one nice whiting , one blue runner on shrimp, Fishbites, and pomp-elite.com green goblin floats. Sunday morning report- waves choppy, strong pull to the south , slight drizzle - bring heavy sputniks!

Melbourne B*h just south of Ponce Deleon , April 30th, clear and calm, lots of fleas ( and love bugs too), Bite slow though, one pomp immediately, then 2 bonnet heads and a cat in the next hour, then nothing - outgoing tide. Good day to tie rigs. And if you like to tie your own, pomp-elite.com has 20 colors of bullet floats , many custom painted.

Melbourne B*h this am -big change from yesterday- waves calmed down - no w**ds , set up 2 rods as the launch raced across the clear sky. Outgoing tide-4 keeper pomps from 13-15” in 20 minutes but skinny for their length. All on the same top float - pomp-elite.com yellow with a red dot , shrimp and the same fishbite cause I never had to change it! The other rod had a bead rig and produced 2 small pomp’s and a whiting. Then the switch was flipped and no bites except the shark that led me up and down the beach - biggest fish ever on my pomp rig. Great action for 1 hour of fishing! Get out there! The Beaches in Melbourne today are as ugly as it gets- strong waves, dirty water and a new batch of w**d coming in. But we know how quickly it can clean up. Be ready with pomp-elite.com rigs and floats now at Man Overboard bait and tackle in Indian Harbour. Just stocked six of our most popular colors , Capt B. Signature colors, as well as bulk floats. Mountains of seaw**d coming ashore yesterday south of Ponce DeLeon in Melbourne- headed south and very little south of the inlet - managed one decent pomp and a few smaller whiting late afternoon- Pomp-elite.com restocked Whiteys and Rigg’s Outpost with 12 new float and bead color combinations including the hot creamsicle/blue wave, and all of Captain B’s signature rigs including the new Disco bead rig! Check out the website as we are adding new spring float colors and of course we can always tie rigs for you with color combinations of your choice. Let’s get to the beach!

Thanks to Indian river keeper for an awesome tournament! My 2 buddies Rick and Roy and I fished south and battled the waves and seaw**d all day but was solid with 7 nice pomp’s and a few big whiting. No pomps for Roy but he had the last laugh winning the custom fishing cart from Benjamin’s wheels. I was just off the leaderboard again with solid fish. Fleas and Fishbites did the trick and we put Capt. B’s Plain Jane rigs made by pomp-elite.com to the test.( soon to be available on the website and in Whiteys and Rigg’s outpost). The quick shower at Conchy Joes did not damper the excitement and gave us a beautiful rainbow over the River to remind us of what Indianriverkeeper.org is helping to protect.
