Thanks to Indian river keeper for an awesome tournament! My 2 buddies Rick and Roy and I fished south and battled the waves and seaweed all day but was solid with 7 nice pomp’s and a few big whiting. No pomps for Roy but he had the last laugh winning the custom fishing cart from Benjamin’s wheels. I was just off the leaderboard again with solid fish. Fleas and Fishbites did the trick and we put Capt. B’s Plain Jane rigs made by pomp-elite.com to the test.( soon to be available on the website and in Whiteys and Rigg’s outpost). The quick shower at Conchy Joes did not damper the excitement and gave us a beautiful rainbow over the River to remind us of what Indianriverkeeper.org is helping to protect. Hit the surf this afternoon, trying to find some consistency for the Sandspike Shootout coming up quickly on the 7 th. Hobe sound was not it today - big waves and strong south pull took 5 oz sputs. However the ever consistent Capt B.s rig from pomp-elite.com brought in one pomp and 2 nice whiting including my PB - 15 1/2 inches and fat at 2.31 lbs. Gonna try further north later in the week- Capt B. Sunny morning turned overcast and windy on S Melbourne B*h this am #. A few small pomps and black drum, but a complete croaker fest. If you wanted snook candy, the beach was it . 17 perfect size in one hour! They were close and out deep, and hit any bait you threw to them. Pomp-elite.com loaded up Whiteys and Riggs Outpost this am with 12 popular colors including the hot coquina shell, golden doodle, and the ever consistent Cap.B surf charters rig. Just in time for spring break and the Sandspike Shootout tournament on March 7. Also don’t forget Capt.B free tournament meet up at Mavericks Hangar Bar and grill on Feb. 28. Fleas have been hard to come by, but I noticed alot of coquinas washing in the surf. Underwater they look like a swirl of color as they get scattered. In Melbourne, whites, purples and oranges seem to be the prevalent colors, so if course we had to create a new colored float to match! Coquina shell floats now available online at pomp-elite.com and rigs available at Whiteys and Rigg’s Outpost. Pomp’s are still chewing , just making us work a little harder for them!

Melbourne B*h 7:30- 9 am, Beautiful morning- overcast, cool, water clean. 2 Palometa, 1 pomp, 2 whiting all in close, then the blues came to crash the party- 6 including a double that nearly took the rod. Me and my first mate Hercules had the beach to ourselves as far as we could see. Capt. B surf charters Meet up this Sat at Mavericks. Free tournament , pomp, whiting ,bluefish-prizes and great food. Weigh in 12-2.

Fished south Melbourne this am 8-10, water rough but clean, no S or N pull so 3 oz sputs held just fine, no sea Robbin’s which were so prevalent last few days but alas, no pomp’s either. Still.. non- stop action of blues, jacks, whiting, and black drum. Several double hook ups. Baby man-o-wars washing up. Just restocked Whiteys bait and tackle near the inlet with pomp-elite.com rigs and bulk floats. 10 different color combinations including the hot Capt. B signature “let’s go catching” rig. Cold coming- hopefully hot bite!
