Two trumpet job opportunities!

TWO FOR ONE | Earlier this month we announced an opening for trumpet with Ceremonial Brass, and we’re excited to share that an additional position has now become available! The audition will still be held on September 15, 2026 with application materials being due by August 9, 2026.

The Ceremonial Brass is made up of 41 active-duty musicians who perform at funerals at Arlington National Cemetery, official arrival ceremonies for foreign dignitaries at the White House and Pentagon, patriotic events, and military ceremonies including changes of command, retirements, and award presentations.

This full-time career opportunity includes:
- Annual starting salary of $80,000-$87,000
- 30 days of paid vacation annually
- Full medical and dental coverage
- Post 9-11 GI Bill (up to $80,000 for college)
- Comprehensive military benefits
- Minimum four-year enlistment
- Applicants must be between the ages of 17 and 41 (must not have yet reached 42nd birthday)

June 20 in Melbourne and June 21 in Vero Beach: Andrew Cleaver, owner of BWB, leads the Space Coast Symphony Jazz Orchestra as Old Blue Eyes meets the Yellow Brick Road.

The top Central Florida musicians take the stage to give you a Father's Day weekend that swings! He'll feature Phil Wilson's entire "Wizard of Oz Suite" and finish by recreating Frank's 1966 "Sinatra at the Sands" album which featured the Count Basie big band.

Andrew Cleaver kicks our season off on June 20 & 21 with the renowned Space Coast Symphony Jazz Orchestra. Saxophonist, educator, veteran, bandleader, father, Andrew Cleaver brings a lifetime of music and service to the stage.

A retired U.S. Air Force musician with 21 years of service, Andrew performed in 20 countries for presidents, international dignitaries, and audiences around the world. His career has included performances with artists such as Paquito D’Rivera, Karrin Allyson, Kevin Eubanks, The Ronettes, and Eugene Rousseau, and he can even be heard on the Grammy Award-winning album PDQ Bach: Music for an Awful Lot of Winds and Percussion.

Today, Andrew continues to inspire musicians across Central Florida through his private teaching studio, work with area schools, leadership of the Space Coast Symphony Jazz Orchestra, and his new band supply store, Brevard Winds and Brass. We’re proud to have Andrew as part of the SCSO family.

MOUTHPIECE SALE TO BENEFIT THE HERITIAGE HIGH SCHOOL SAX SECTION

A generous customers at BWB has offered this two-mouthpiece set for sale to benefit the sax section at Heritage High School here in Brevard County! Money raised will be used to buy several new custom BWB mouthpieces, ligatures and reeds for sax students at HHS.

Included in this sale are two mouthpieces originally purchased at Carlton Music Center in Winter Haven in 1975:

-MEYER 6 tenor mouthpiece: this is the standard-issue jazz piece received back in the '70s and '80s. They're great pieces - and these older ones outperform the current Meyer pieces.
--SELMER C* tenor mouthpiece: needs no introduction. These legit pieces allow for the smooth tenor sounds you hear in concert bands and orchestras around the world.

Hey FSUS Bands, we're curious about what year this FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY CONCERT BAND bulletin was used.

This was inside a 1973 Selmer MKVI sax case. The sax was originally purchased in 1975 from Carlton Music in Winter Haven. The original owner mentioned that he was an FSU student when he bought the horn, so perhaps 1975-1979 is a good guess.
