Here it is! The official list of the glazes leaving. As some of you may know, we’ve been working on a glaze overhaul (and test tile wall) to streamline our glaze options. This has been going on behind the scenes since, pretty much Day 1. There are a few different reasons why a glaze may not have made the cut. Some of them are boring (PTR Blue) and we can do better. Some have been causing glaze defects, like running and bubbling. Others have materials whose prices have skyrocketed. Whatever the reason may be, we’ve been doing lots of testing to make sure all these new glazes work with all our different clays, the glazes that are staying and of course, layer beautifully with each other. As we use up the current buckets of the glazes that are leaving, we’ll replace them with our new ones over the next several weeks. We’ll also hold some contests for some fun new names for these glazes!

Wow! What a week it’s been. I’m so overwhelmed and touched and humbled by the incredible community around me. When we set out to build Lore Ceramics, I knew what we needed. The equipment, the shelving, the tools and all of that. And I knew how I wanted the space to make people feel. Safe, calm, creative. I wanted people to connect, collaborate and lift each other up. And many decisions were made with that in mind. What I didn’t ever bother to think about was what I would feel in the space. There have been moments along this journey that have been overwhelming (in a good way) but none more so than this week. Thank you. Thank you for the surprise birthday celebrations! Thank you for showing up and supporting the studio. For allowing us to expand to twice the space 6 months after opening. For being amazing human beings who welcome our new students into the fold so naturally and continue to challenge each other with new and creative ideas. We have 32 students/members who have been with us since the very beginning, the very first summer. That’s incredible. Everyone needs their third space, their community, their support system. I’m so honored to provide that to others, I just didn’t expect it to become my own too. And I couldn’t be happier about that. Looking forward to so many more adventures with all of you. 40 has never felt better.

Thursday nights theme this semester for our last day party was when at all possible, bring it in a piece you e made. It was such a wonderful challenge and a great opportunity to see all these different pieces made by our students. Shout out to Alaina who brought in her very first piece made when she came to a one time throwdown so many months ago! Now 6 months in she’s making things bigger, better and quicker than ever before! The growth is so motivating ❤️!

For those who have been following the fountain journey. They work well, but not great. And one definitely has a leak somewhere. Started working on Fountain 2.0 but the base cracked while drying. So on to 3.0 now! I am determined to have a fountain in the studio.
