Ecko-Ridge Outpost
A Home for Retired Horses
Ecko-Ridge offers a safe and loving place for senior horses in need of a relaxing retirement after a long life working for their owners. Unfortunately, it's common that many horse owners will sell their older animals to an auction house or kill pen. Ecko-Ridge is a small farm with a dream to offer a safe place for older horses in need of care and attention. With a passion for Horses, we are determined to provide these beloved animals with the same love and care they would have received in their working years. This includes the provision and development of mentally stimulating activities meant to enrich the lives of these 'senior' citizens. It's through these activities that Ecko-Ridge hopes to encourage human socialization to help heal the wounds of their past. One such activity practiced at Ecko-Ridge is painting - yes, painting! The creations made by the residents of Ecko-Ridge are then offered up for sale. 100% of the proceeds brought in by their paintings go directly to the horses to help provide them with the life they deserve. We also offer personalized interactions for birthdays, proposals, or any special occasion you can think of! These one-on-one experiences offer an opportunity for you to meet with the artists themselves, learn about their lives, and, of course, grooming and snuggles are included! Although our loving residents are no longer available for riding, they have so much to offer us by ways of wholesome companionship. How did it all begin? It all started with a horse named Bones. This sweet boy was left to starve, a friend of the Outpost found him and brought him home to rehabilitate. After proper vet care and a healthy diet he was on his way to a long life! Miss Amanda reached out to Running Dog Ranch who worked with him for their Equine Therapy Program but they discovered that he had some old injuries that left him unable to ride. Bones had already met Miss Dee who developed a bond with this loving Tennessee Walking Horse and they asked if he live with her. She of course said YES! He is quite the character and loves his person, she continued to nurse him back to health. They enjoy just sitting outside under the trees together and he lets her dress him up and bake him treats. While he can only do short rides sometimes its enough for them. So you see, his name came from him being skin and bones and slowly the herd grew so the vision was clearly in front of us.
