317 Art Collaborative invites 1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation immigrant artists of all backgrounds, mediums, and experience levels to submit work for an upcoming exhibition exploring the many stories, struggles, traditions, and triumphs woven into the fabric of immigration to the United States.

This exhibition will open Friday, July 10, from 5-10pm and will remain hanging in the gallery through August.

Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly. Work may address topics including, but not limited to:

Cultural identity and heritage
Immigration stories past and present
Family history and ancestry
Displacement and belonging
Borders, migration and citizenship
Racism and Xenophobia
Unity across cultures
Hope, resistance and community solidarity

All visual art mediums are welcome, including painting, drawing, mixed media, video, photography, sculpture,
fiber, printmaking and installation work.

This exhibition aims to create dialogue, empathy, and understanding during a time when immigrant communities continue to face political uncertainty, fear and division, while also celebrating the immeasurable impact immigrants have had on American culture and society.

1 - 3 pieces per artist, depending on size
2D visual art must be hang ready, meaning framed with sawtooth bracket or wired.
We would prefer all work be for sale
Please include a brief bio when you drop off

SAVE THE DATE!! On Sunday June 7 Lion’s Tooth welcomes author Steve Darnall as he celebrates the release of “Marvels: The Novelization”, based Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross’ bestselling and now classic miniseries from 1993. The book is a thrilling all-new interpretation of one of the most famous stories in Marvel Comics history.

“Marvels” was a landmark series when it was first published—peeling back the curtain on Marvel’s history. It’s a story told from the perspective of an everyman character—news photographer Phil Sheldon—who chronicles a world full of costumed superhumans, providing an on-the-ground view of events in the Marvel Universe as they unfold. Darnall’s prose perfectly captures the magic of Busiek and Ross’ original story, offering insights and background previously untold in the comic book. Tying the story together in a stunning package is an all-new painted cover, four all-new color illustrations, and four all-new black-and-white illustrations by Alex Ross, as well as an all-new afterword by Ross.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Steve Darnall first worked with Alex Ross when the two collaborated on a Human Torch story that served as the inspiration for the original Marvels series. The two later worked together as writer and artist on the graphic novel Uncle Sam and the 2020 anthology Marvel. Darnall also served as a consultant on the movie Being the Ricardos and Ken Burns’s documentary Country Music. He is the editor of Nostalgia Digest magazine and the host of two weekly radio shows dedicated to the golden age of radio.

Last call to register for Lion’s Tooth Comics School in June!

For one week participating kids and teens (ages 8 to 17) will create a comic story from beginning to end, from writing, to thumbnails, to pencils and inking. The work from each session will then be collected into an anthology zine to be launched during a special event for friends and family (and the public!) at Lion’s Tooth.

Instruction is provided by Moritz Junker, with supervision by Lion’s Tooth co-owners Cris Siqueira and Shelly McClone-Carriere. Moritz is a cartoonist and was the 2025 Lion’s Tooth artist-in-residence, having been selected by industry professionals for the Dandelion Comics Residency.

Kids who participated in the 2024 and 2025 sessions are welcome to come back and make comics with us again!

Lion’s Tooth Comics School is a fundraising effort to keep our bookstore afloat and help fund comics-related programming.
