Today I went to Greedy Reads, Charm City Books, Backwater Books and Bibliopub, and The Ivy Bookshop. Each place was beautiful, and each was SO different from the other. I enjoyed getting to see the stores and talking to some of the booksellers in each space!

What would YOU do if there weren't any books in the world? There are so many things I wouldn't know about, experiences I wouldn't even have vicariously. I can't imagine, and don't want to imagine, a world without books!

I'm in Baltimore for New Voices, New Rooms, a bookseller's conference. I arrived a little early so I could have the joy of discovering a bit of the city. The place I'm staying at is a beautiful, historic 1874 mansion. I got to sleep in and have a lazy morning without my cats, which was nice because I've been exhausted lately! After finally getting up and out on the streets of Baltimore, I visited Red Emma's, enjoyed the farmer's market, then returned to Red Emma's for lunch. Following lunch, I had the pleasure of visiting with Victoria Adams-Kennedy, Teri Henderson, and Arthur Fitzhugh III from the Charm City Cultural Cultivation. Y'all!!! That was an accidental stop but SO worth the time. I truly enjoyed speaking with them about the work they are doing cultivating black creatives and, especially, black women authors!
After that, I went to Urban Reads Bookstore. I forgot to ask who was painting the murals in the store but, wow, were they nice!

I'm excited about popping up at Hudson Con tomorrow! Hope to see you there!! There are so many great vendors and the actors coming for the meet and greet are gonna be SO fun!!

Spent the best afternoon in Newton, NC at Libreria Bookstore with Crys and David. I loved being in their space, hearing how they'd curated it with a large selection of Indie Authors and local artisans, and even getting to experience their store ghost throwing a book to the floor! Go visit! Their book selection is great and you'll find loads of books you won't see anywhere else.

I had the best time hearing Leah Weiss talk about her books, the writing process, character development, and sharing bits of her life with us. She is a wonderful storyteller and writer!

Have you read any of her books?
I'm currently reading her latest, The Creek, the Crone, and the Crow, and I. AM. ENTHRALLED!!

I also had the chance to meet another author of Appalachian historical novels, Sarah Loudin Thomas, and a couple of authors with their debut works in progress! Thanks, Jean, Thornwell Books, for a delightful evening!
